Four-star class of 2028 recruit Ace Leutele is a veteran on the defensive side of the ball for Mater Dei. He has been the starting safety since his freshman year for the Monarchs and has appeared in 17 high school football games.

Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes coaching staff were among the first three schools to offer him back in October 2024. He now holds over 21 power-five scholarship offers. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound safety spoke with CanesInSight about his recruitment, the top teams pursuing him, and future visits he has planned.

As his recruitment starts to pick up other schools around the country are starting to take notice in his game. According to the 247Sports Composite Recruiting Rankings, he is currently considered as a four-star prospect. The site ranks him as the nation's No. 256 overall player, No. 21 safety, and No. 20 player out of California.

He listed nine schools that are pursuing him the hardest and giving him the most attention: USC, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Nebraska, Washington, Ohio State, Miami, UCLA and Kansas," stated Leutele. According to the On3 Prediction Machine, the USC Trojans hold an advantage to land him. He is currently 19 miles away from the Trojans campus.

He plans on making a college decision next summer around this time of year. He also stated that he plans on narrowing down his recruitment list by the end of his junior year.

Leutele expressed that he is eyeing an official visit to get down to Coral Gables this season to see a game: "I want to check a game out with Miami this year but do not have set up schedules for games yet."

Head coach Mario Cristobal has flipped the script tremendously in Coral Gables these past two seasons, and the recruits are starting to take notice of the Hurricanes' winning culture: "The winning culture and [the] mindset within the players [are what stick out from other programs]."
