4 more days for a Portal WR. Tell me the good news.

Because evaluations are not solely based off of going against subpar WRs. They are evaluating based off of group drills, individual drills, team meetings along with what they do when they go against the WRs. Not to mention incoming class, Tyriqe and Porter not here as well.

Also if they felt WR room was so subpar as you stated we would have seen them attempt to address it like they did with the D line room. But based on the actions of this staff, they believe WR room is good with what they have and incoming class but does need an upgrade or 2, and not a complete overhaul like they did with the D line
Yup.

Also to add to your list Steele has mentioned that certain players are coach-able and they want to learn and he can tell they love football.
Add all of those intangibles up along with certain things they emphasize within the film room and it makes it easier for coaches to be enthusiastic.

Contrary to popular belief around here the mental aspect and the coach-able aspect and maturity of a player is important. Of course talent is very important but that is just one variable.

If Steele and Addae think each player can play well within a certain role/roles then I trust their judgement. Even if it is just based off of one Spring.

We've heard corners were improved for 4 years. Something tells me 1 spring won't be when it finally happens. Scheme change is great and all but Ivey won't have the luxury of a bunch of drops he had in the spring game. I'll be ecstatic to be wrong but our corners lack speed and production.
So you are going into this season and outlook based on Ivey?

Mind you, you already didn't even factor in that we did address CB in the portal with Porter. And not even factoring in that they practiced in spring without our #1 CB, who is good, in Stevenson. Not to mention, reports from inside guys we are lucky enough to get from that we know to be getting legit information, that the new staff, coaching, S&C have made a difference in improving the guys that did practice in spring.

Of course it has to play out on the field, but all indications are pointing towards the CB play and room to be improved from what we have seen in the past.

Also this isn't Madden, you have scholarship restrictions. You just can't go and pick and drop whoever you want. Finite number of scholarships these coaches know they will have to play with after transfers and what not. Based on their actions, which we have to assume is based on what they saw first hand after they coached them up, priority was changing the face of the DL room, addressing the O line, tweaking the CB room with Porter, and tweaking the WR room with 1 or 2 more guys. We can conclude that in the eyes of the what the coaches actually saw, D line then O line was a much bigger priority than CB and WR

I would add...the best way to improve the defensive backfield is to put pressure on the quarterback. To that end, 5 new defensive linemen will strengthen the defensive backs by reducing the amount of time they have to cover.
