3rd down defense UF went 1-9

Bain had to be suffering in the locker room and on the sideline not being able to participate. **** is gonna come back with pent up fury and vengeance. I pity whoever is on the receiving end.

Joe Dirt was trying to say the "Check Down Charlie" Mertz nickname was ridiculous.
His twisted oddball stat was that if you takeaway the throws behind the LOS of Mertz/Ward last season, they were close in yards per attempt.
Other than the fact that Mertz would be left with about 43 passes in the equation, once he got into the "if you takeaway" thing, forget it.

Mertz had 5 pass attempts on 3rd down.
Only 2 went beyond the sticks, which were incomplete.
His only 2 completions were, yes, behind the LOS.

Oh fer 7 on 3rd for Check-Down Charlie. The rook had to come in and get their only conversion.

They got their first 3rd down conversion when the backup qb came in game and we had several starters out.

Look at Alston on that second clip. Everyone is talking about baron who had a monster game and rightfully so but Alston was balling as well. Great spin move

Alston was flat out dominant early on

I actually called him Baron a couple of times because I just assumed it was him before realizing it was actually Alston

His PFF grades were really high but he really went a little under the radar because **** he’s good

I mean that just shows how prepared our defense was. Everyone know 3rd down is the money down. Not converting a single one until the 4th quarter is a D coordinators wet dream.

They tried us down field a few times and couldn’t connect. Once the pass rush started to heat up the pocket, he wasn’t going to let Mertz hang in there and get killer. We kept them behind the chains all day. They really had no chance besides short fields and we only have that to them once when it mattered

Even with the backups in the DT (not sure who it was) looped in which allowed Lagway a huge hole to run through.
