Nerver should have been in OT. Wasn't Becks fault that they were. You remember Trader dropping a pass and it went into the SMU players hands. WOn't even go into the penalties false starts and horrific officiating?

He has been playing great lately. Pitt game will be a huge test. They will try to pressure him, speed him up, and get him to make bad decisions. He needs to be elite next Saturday.

It's too bad he was injured all off-season. I thought he was still injured to explain his not great play in the middle of the season, but I now credit the narrative he and Dawson have been selling lately that he just needed time and reps to get comfortable. He has been throwing the ball down the field much more effectively the past few games.

He's had a nice year and I hope he gets drafted pretty high and has a nice NFL career. Won't change that he played as bad as a QB can play against UL, but credit to him he has played his best ball of the season after that game and we still have a chance to make the playoff.

Mario and Dawson*

Mario didn’t force Dawson to run the ball on 26 consecutive short yardage plays in the middle of the season and have absolutely zero creativity at any point.

But it’s Mario’s team. He’s responsible for all of it. We coached way too conservatively in the middle part of the season. Beck is a very good college QB. You don’t put up those numbers operating at a snail’s pace unless you’re a good player. He rarely gets breathed on. Let him make the offense go. You can still be balanced….we averaged almost 6.6 a play and 4 points per drive today throwing it 33 times and running it 30. But you can do it in a stressful way to a defense, like we’ve been doing the last few weeks. We became the world’s most boring team in the middle of the season for some reason.

But Beck is solid. Playing 3 awful defenses makes your numbers better, but he’s good enough to beat all the teams we played. We handcuffed the **** out of the whole operation in October/vs SMU for some reason.

Agree the SMU game never should have. And no no no it was Mario dropped that pass and Mario was calling those penalties, it was Mario that called that BS personal foul at the end too, just like Mario threw that int in OT. As per the “experts” here.

Point is Louisville and SMU game are the norm in college football. No matter how good you are, generally, you will have a couple of “off games” no matter who you are
