#26 what the heck is this

I’m torn between which play is worse.
Hall choosing not to tackle the ball carrier
Ivey choosing not to defend the fake punt against GTech

I think Hall thought the ball carrier was setting up a block, so he took on the block to get outside leverage. He also had inside help. If Hall doesn't take on the blocker AND he gets picked with the receiver bouncing to the sideline the result of the play gives up more yards.

Anyone know how many yards MSU gained on the play?

A whole lot

There is no pitch there. That was a pass to a receiver.

Worst play I've ever seen by a safety here.

It's like Madden when it switches you to the wrong defensive player.
AJ Highsmith would like a word outside.

No, couch was right there on the outside.

Yeah, I looked the play up because I didn't like that ****** cropped video. It is possible he reacted that way even though he had help. I'm just trying to figure out why he did what he did. I doubt he was just all of a sudden terrified of contact like the stupid headlines and memes say. There has to be more to it. That play makes me think he is doing something that was drilled.

He just made a bonehead play, and trusted carter to make the tackle.

i truly believe these miami hurricane kids dont know how to play football. The high schools in south fla just play street ball. there isnt any coaching. its wide open speed vs speed.

No, that is how Manny coaches his defense. It's all about penetrating into the backfield and hoping for sacks or tackles for loss. High school teams in south Florida don't play this way. Believe me, they are taught to set the edge, don't break contain, leverage, and pursuit angles. What you are seeing from the Hurricanes right now is strictly due to the Manny Diaz variant.
