25-26 Transfers

Big weekend in Queens, NY this weekend.
I have to wonder how many scholarships they have available.

Guards: Wilcher, Sanon

Wings/Post: Zuby, Hopkins, Prey, Vince

Bench: Glover, Lefty, Ayo, Maker.

  • Expecting Sellers and Mitchell this weekend
  • Ian may take longer, but by most accounts, is coming home
  • That'd leave SJ with one slot for a PG (Lee hopefully)
  • Wouldn't be surprised if they added a Euro for depth
  • So we are talking 4-5 more players

Hopefully that's where the Serbian can come in. But this roster still would really be missing some long athletic rangy wings who can shoot and drive.
Is there a player in the Portal - who we have a legit shot at - who could immediately step in as the true "Go To" guy on this team? Looks to me like we've signed some potentially nice role players up to this point, but maybe not the type of player I'm talking about.

I'm talking about the guy who the HC and team members look for to take the last shot in a tie game as the clock runs down to zero, who always steps up and scores to stop an opponents' "run," etc.

I think as it stands right now, Donaldson is that guy for us and he's committed. He's taken/made big shots in big moments while at Michigan. He's just not consistent enough all game long to be that #1 option.

To be fair, the guy you're talking about either develops as the roster comes together, and in some cases to have a really good one (like, say, Walter Clayton Jr.) is kinda rare. Last guy that was that kind of guy for us was probably Wong. The only guy in the portal that's elite Clayton Jr almost level is probably Darrion Williams. He proved that for Texas Tech in the tourney. That being said, I don't think we are even remotely in the conversation for him.

I think the piece you're describing will have to develop. I don't think we'll snag a closer alpha-type like that from the portal, at least not one that's apparent and proven in that role right now.

I’ve been wondering the same. While his offensive numbers don’t jump off the page, Donaldson was known to be a go to or at least “clutch” guy at Michigan.

As someone who lives in Michigan and is surrounded by their fans I can tell you that Donaldson is known as being very streaking. At times early on in the game he can miss a few shots (which is why his fg and 3fg percentages aren’t as high as you would think) but when the game is close at the end he usually makes more than he misses. Has a knack for the ball on defense and always wants it in his hand with the game on the line. I think with another of offseason shooting he should improve on those numbers.

Great evaluation and I mean this in the nicest way possible but streaky PGs is common for Miami fans recently.
From Chris Lykes to Nigel Pack, streaky PGs have become a way of life in Coral Gables.
At least we know that Donaldson is a better defensive player than both of those guys.
That's the bright side to his streaky behavior. 😂

Half a million for 6 points a game is hilarious! 😂 🤣.
Talk about bad advice but then again, someone is going to give out that deal to some kid, who will be back in the portal again next year.
