247 Update on Admin Changes

I work in the UM Healthcare system and although the cancer center makes the money that runs the medical school and the medical school makes the money that runs university, there is not massive amount of money to spend on sports coming from the medical school.
What's "massive" to you?? Btw it doesn't have to be massive. We should just all know that UM as a WHOLE has money to go around PLENTY. This is towards those reporters and ppl here who believed their reports just a few weeks ago that money would be an issue.

We are arguing apples and oranges to a large extent. You are talking facilities and sports in general, I am talking football specifically. Donna did not want a strong AD, and she did not want a powerful football program that would usurp her. As I wrote above, she fundraised a lot for the school, but was bad for the football program.
She wanted Barry alvarez originally to coach after butch and likely run the ad. He wouldve been a massive upgrade to what We’ve had in hindsight

edit . Meant after butch premcoker

Ferman reporting he's also hearing the following:

* New AD gets a year to get his feet wet. In this scenario, Manny likely stays
* Go after Mario Cristobal
* If Mario says no, pursue other coaches.
Get his feet wet with what? The vile that will be our fan base when we keep losing and they haven’t fired the coach we’ve been screaming our heads off for them to fire while also looking up into the sky and reading “FIRE MANNY AND HIS FATHER” from a single prop plane over a 1/5 filled Hard Rock stadium?

I think the transition would be easier if there were a competent coach in place that the fan base were excited about and had some more patience for. Less hate mail for Athletic Director X still trying to figure out the difference between a colada and a cortadito.

The money is coming from the Columbus Crew (I gather that's also an MLS team) on the BOT rather than the school.

The fact that we're seriously considering "Miami guys" who have no actual qualifications other than having played football here is deeply disturbing. We're on the precipice of oblivion and irrelevance. This needs to be a homerun. Hopefully they do the right thing here and bring in an actual AD with actual experience.
Jeremy Foley anyone?

I don't think we hired Cristobal before we hired an AD. I would imagine they know there's going to be a million questions about the Miami job and don't want it as a distraction, which may be good news in and of itself.

Or that.

Agreed. This is why Flake should have been shown the door a long time ago

Damm early bird lol.....can you elaborate please?
On the WC, it’s late not early. Lol.

Short story: We’ve been f’ing up on the field!!!

Detailed Story:

Nike provided us w/ new unis in 2014, new design, & tech, just off strength. The 2014 season happened & instead of firing Golden after the entire off season & on-field debacle, we kept him. Nike, seeing our lack of commitment, made us an offer based upon the market tier we placed ourselves in from 2005-2015. Blake felt it was low and went into a bidding war between Adidas & UA. Adidas, desperate to rebrand itself, as well, decided to make us a lucrative offer, in which Nike refused to match.

Adidas gambled on us, thinking they attached themselves to a power, just like the ACC strategically placed us in The Coastal, & FSU vouched for us. We were supposed to be the crown jewel of the ACC and Adidas, just like we used to be Nike’s crown jewel.

We’ve literally let all of our suitors down, just collecting checks, which is y Adidas turned its attention to Washington, and went on record calling them it’s flagship school. Adidas biggest priority will now be Texas A&M starting next yr, especially what Jimbo has cooking. Why? B/c Adidas has been searching to have a P5 school that’s a force. All of the CFB powers r brand Nike. Adidas has by far & wide been a G5 sponsor. With that being said, Miami was supposed to be that for Adidas. They took a financial gamble on us from a brand & marketing standpoint.

7 yrs later & we’re collecting their checks & that’s bout it. Our merch has been dropping in price & not moving. U can find our latest “team shoe” on ****’s Sporting Goods from size 6.5 - 14 at a price at $130 instead of the original $180. We’ve not held up our end from an overall product standpoint, but still collecting their $. Part of Merch problems could be on Adidas’ failings as well, but we’re not helping them w/ our own perception.
