247 taking the Offensive in support of Gattis

This is not a defense of Gattis...but a question.

I'm curious of the players - outside of TVD - that you all think are playing worse this year than in previous years on the offensive side of the ball. We lost a significant percentage of the marketshare of yards this offense generated last year with graduations and the offense has struggled to replace their production. Even still, you're seeing the best play from players that probably aren't equipped to carry the load of an offense to expected results.

We all universally understand Manny Diaz was pretty bad as a head coach, developer, evaluator, and even recruiter...so when a team is required to use his players to succeed (not even his ace players, just, guys that have barely played for Miami in some instances in previous years)...this is what that looks like.

I'd say nobody is playing WORSE (again, other than TVD)...which should tell you that these players aren't exactly what you think they are.

For argument sakes, I want someone to intelligently defend Josh Gattis and why he should be retained. Instead of scapegoating the players, I’d really like to see someone bang the table for Gattis

They’re right, the receivers haven’t been great. Probably more a WR coach issue than an OC issue.

Who’s the WR coach again?

Some of Y'all all jare ust silly. Use anything and even make up **** to fit the narrative you want.

You were calling for Lashlee's head at one time before TVD took off.
.
Have realistic expectations for year 1 and a ton of injuries.

Some of this **** is just comical.

You mean like you're doing? Because you're making "****" up.

People were mad at Lashlee because his offense would fall apart against really good defenses. Which was a completely valid criticism. He had bad games against Clemson, UNC, Bama, and Michigan State. But we were scoring 34 points per game against P5 opponents by his 8th game, where Gattis has scored 18. Gattis' offense hasn't fallen apart because it never existed.

We put up 52 against FSU in his 3rd game here. You think people were upset at him like they're upset at Gattis? That's how you remember it? To quote you, "Some of this **** is just comical".

I watch college football games all day every week. Every team loses production as kids graduate. Every team has injuries. The offense we run is horrible. Outside of a few teams literally EVERYONE is putting up 30 a game. The whole game and rules are slanted to the offense. I have no idea who would want to come and play in this offense.

There are different ways to do it, but everyone is making the defense defend the whole width of the field. We don't.

So TCU isn't really happening? I'm asking for a friend.
Yes, TCU is happening.

And not defending Gattis, or diminish Dykes’ success, but wasn’t TCU already playing a version of a spread offense with Patterson? The transition from that offense to another spread variation seems less difficult than the square peg-round hole transition we’re suffering from.

Interesting enough, Dykes was fired from Cal, in the terrible PAC12, after going 19-30 overall, 10-26 in conference. Couldn’t scheme them to much success.

What are the players then?

Because I see teams like UTEP, Kent St, Western Kentucky, South Alabama all executing, catching and throwing better than Miami.

If Gattis had their players would the team play better?

Gattis isn’t the right fit, and Mario should part ways with him at the end of the season. He also hasn’t adapted to what’s been given to him. There are better OC’s out there for us.

However, a good deal of our offensive struggles is down to execution and personnel. We lost to A&M, MTSU, and UNC because we could not execute when we needed to. Dropped passes, fumbles, missed assignments, missed blocks, overthrown passes, etc. if we converted even half those opportunities, this is at least a 6-2 team right now. No game was more evident of this than A&M, where we had at least 6-7 opportunities to blow that game open and just couldn’t execute.

Either way, wipe the slate clean.

I knew Earl real well when he was at UM....He was Marlin Barnes roommate at UM, and was the one to find Marlin & his Girlfriends dead (Blungeoned) bodies as well.
I’m aware. I was around the team enough to know lots of things sad and funny.

Let me be clear I am not defending gattis but all this lashlee **** is getting old people act like we won titles in his two years here. Gattis is definitely not the answer but I do like the approach of a power spread with a dominant run game. It is what you have to have to compete at a national level. I guess if some of you are satisfied with 7 or 8 wins a year with all the padded stats of a QB that throws 50 times a games then SMU( who's is 4-4) could use some more fans. If we want to be dominant again it is going to be a roster rebuild with some asst coaching changes. I would bet lashlee would still win no more than 9 games with Mario's year 2 roster.

"Gattis isn't the problem. His personnel is completely different but he's running the exact same offense as last year..and the completely different players can't execute what his players did last year."

Even Lon has turned on gattis

I can't agree with this. Lashlees offense struggled to run the ball as well. And we had much better receivers last year. It says a lot that a JUCO transfer came in and took over the top spot at receiver this year. Players are a big part of the problem.
