Stars don't matter quit worrying
The recruits follow that ****. They want to be around people with high stars. They put how many stars they are in their twitter bios. It’s not something we need to be basing our offers on, but it is something where if the guys we already have get a bump it’s a nice thing for us and if they get knocked down it hurts our perception slightly.

I did, these 16 year olds probably dont. You saw how they reacted when that kid tweeted that they just giving offers to everyone. He was not pleased. We don’t need to appease him, we go with what we see on the field. But what I’m saying is that if the rankings update and our guys get boosted it is a positive thing for our perception.

They update their rankings to drive clicks and generate revenue and subscriptions. The whole ranking system is to appease fans. Coaches know who can play. The fact that some recruiting website nudged a players "score" in one direction or another means nothing. Guys go from three to four stars simply by getting an offer from a big name program. There's no science behind it. It's all arbitrary.

KingSlayer knows stars matter he’s just ******* with you. And you right it’s all about perception, a lot of kids DO want to play with other highly rated kids that’s just facts especially in this day and age

Kinda like the kid that was rated a 3* and was completely made up on twitter with no film....

Exactly.

Stars do matter but not in the way that most recruiting fanboys think. You want to recruit as many 4 and 5 star players as possible because yes, they have the highest rate of success. The thing is, a three star isn't guaranteed to be worse than a 4 star and often times the determining factor is just a few percentage points that are arbitrarily awarded by recruiting site employees. There is essentially zero difference between a guy rated towards the bottom of the 4 star range and a guy rated towards the top of the 3 star range. Alabama and FIU both sign 3 star rated players. The spectrum range of 3 star players is vast. On top of that, guys get randomly rewarded with bumps in rankings for little or no reason. Miami's star QB recruit, Tyler VanDyke was a 3 star rated player when Miami offered him. By virtue of receiving a Miami offer, he was immediately bumped to a 4 star player.

Here is a part of the schedule of how/when ratings update for a kid who is interested in playing for Miami:

-.015 stars for putting a U emoji on their Twitter, Snap or IG accounts;
-.020 Stars for following Manny Diaz and more than 4 additional UM Asst Coaches or support personnel on social media;
-.025 stars for taking an unofficial to Miami;
-.50 stars for taking an OV to Miami;
-1.00 stars for committing to The Canes

+.30 stars for stating that "I bleed Orange and Green" while still uncommitted;
+.85 stars for stating that "I bleed Orange and Green" while still committed;
+1.25 stars for stating that "Miami is my dream school" Committed or Uncommitted;
+1.50 stars for de-committing from The Canes

All changes to ratings occur as soon tweets and other social media declarations are discovered....
