24/7 Outlook

They knew he was gone weeks ago, they should have started looking for an AD weeks ago. I can't explain it any simpler than that.
And I can't explain any simpler that none of us know when they decided to can him. By some accounts, it's the fans being ****ed that gets these guys fired, and we may not have reached critical mass until fsu. They may have been willing to let him ride if manny won out, I don't know. And neither do you.

If your point is that it sure seems UM does everything half-assed and at the last second, then I totally agree. But we don't know when these decisions get made, so it's hard to determine when they should hire an outside firm. Also, if they decided weeks ago but kept bj until now, hiring a firm would have given that away.

That's only a lot of money for Miami. Mel Tucker just signed a $95 million deal. Riley reportedly offered $96 mil by LSU. We're not in the same league, and we never will be. Not even f**king close. We're upgrading from a '96 Corolla to a '07 Camry.

It’s a bet on the future….college football could look very different in 10 years. Live TV rights are going to go through the roof in this streaming world. Live sports is the only product people watch live that guarantees advertisers eye balls. Also, with the conference realignments we might see super conferences breaking off from the NCAA to become an NFL minor league with university “affiliations”… with the money coming, 9M a year for a coach in 8-9 years could be a bargain. And all this is the reason we need a savage AD

No doubt, I'm just saying we aren't playing in the same league as the big boys. I think most people know that, I just don't think they realize how far away we are.

Because it seems pretty obvious.

I don’t have any inside info, but based on the fact the Columbus Mafia within the BOT have taken over all the decision making, it’s pretty clear they’re going to pull out all the stops to get their boy.
I don’t think that’s a bad thing and I think you agree with it for the reasons I’m saying. I know you have other coaches you prefer - I’d love Freeze - but for me, the 1st thing I worry about is the UM brain trust repeating what they always do and make a terrible hiring decision on the cheap. At least I think we would be looking at a high floor situation with Mario plus appearances of a real new Miami, the ability to generate local and alumni funds, strong recruiting.

You know where I’m coming from. These guys would hire another Manny, Golden or Coker if left to their own creative devices. Mario is way low risk right now plus these guys will give him resources we’ve never given before.

Everything I've read suggests this is BOT guys fronting the money.

Maybe UHealth is helping somewhat, but it's a few m/billionaires who have just had enough and want this stuff run properly.
They've always had the money. But when you take money from people there are more strings than if you spend your own. A healthy balance needs to be struck.

It also shows the BOT continues to operate somewhere between the intersection of apathy and incompetence.

Root for losses people. We can't leave any room for any sort of mini winning streak down the stretch that might cause these retards to do something stupid. They simply can't be trusted. Let's go VTech and Duke.

I think that's true for some members of the BOT. It seems like there are others who actually know that the better the football program, the better it is for the school.

Hopefully the latter carry the day. It's so clear Diaz is out of his depth.
