2028 OT Maui Tonata Recaps FSU/Miami Weekend
Coral Gables, FL.-- The #1 player in Utah found his way to Florida for the weekend.

Maui Tonata, the 6 foot 6, consensus top 15 recruit in the Class of 2028 made his way from the Salt Lake State down to Miami to watch the #3 ranked Hurricanes down Florida State in thrilling fashion. The 320lb kick stepper from Orem High had nothing but positives for the atmosphere and energy of Hard Rock Stadium, citing the 'Canes ability to close out the nail biting win as one of his favorite moments of the trip

"What a great game. Probably one of the best games this year. Finishing off with Miami winning, they definitely deserved it. It was a great experience." Tonata stated. "They always got a gameplan, you know. They're always able to accomplish it. Coach {Alex} Miribal and Coach {Mario} Cristobal always got something up their sleeves, not only for the offense- but also the offensive line."

It was rainy and muddy. It was disgusting. It was football weather.

Harsh tropical climates like we saw Saturday evening are where elite offensive lines thrive, using their wall of mass to expand rushing lanes and play smash mouth football. For Maui Tonata, that was exceptionally fun to watch in person.

"They're always doing the little things right. Finishing the block, always looking for the ball and trying to block someone. It was cool seeing an offensive line moving so quick at 300+ pounds."

As far as where Miami stands in his recruitment process, it's clear the 'Canes stand near the top for the top 3 OT in the class.

"This is definitely one of the top schools I'd come to. I do really believe in Coach Cristobal and Coach Miribal."

Maui would cite Brigham Young (BYU) and Oregon as other potential homes.

After being asked what he's looking for the most during the remainder of his recruitment process, Maui kept it simple- he just wants to continue building authentic relationships.

"Relationships. Having great people around, the atmosphere. I care a lot about relationships. I got to have good people around me."

@Confidence1000 it appears in large part I was wrong about how the game was perceived by these jits. Only seen a few negative responses. To me that's crazy, but I really don't care how I view it so long as it doesn't cost us with these recruita who will define the program moving forward.
Sometimes it's just how you choose to view it, for instance Brysen Wrights dad responded to this viewpoint....

Marios job is to SELL the narrative of the win. But don't think anyone CHOOSES how we looked vs just blowing them out completely.... And ultimately Job #1 was to just get the win period.

Now we have to get back on track, not turn every acc game into a deathmatch..

Imagine how the Georgia recruits felt this past weekend...
For me and the people I'm used to not a huge difference. But I'm shutting up about this since it doesn't seem to have affected recruiting in a negative manner and we'll see once bcs poll comes out if that's the same. I'll just never get on board with that.

I understand obviously the win is most important. However exactly what's said there is my point and exactly what I explained to several people before the game even occurred. That's the narrative we're fighting. Yes we got the win. But a W or growth want the issue. The issue was taking an inferior team too lightly and giving them life. We wouldn't have to hear all these ****** *** streamers or national media saying how they got robbed etc. we put ourselves in that position where it will effect us come playoff rankings and how some people now have ammunition against us when we could've put em in the ground. But let's stop this topic please and thanks. I'm just happy to see already it seems it was received positively by the recruits who matter in the house. You wanna see how me & the people I'm used to view this **** go watch that video of warren (who we all know how I feel about him now, he's my brother but his *** does some hoe ****) from this weekend and see what those semenholes bring out in us that live this ****. It don't stop once we go pro, once we retire or anything else. You take that hatred to the grave. So maybe it's just a different mentality. But it's what I'm always gonna live by

As a fan, you can't let YOUR mouth write a check your team's *** can't cash! Our fans kept yapping about demolishing FSU, the team and said chit! C'mon now...

I think with kids today and their short attention spans a blowout (which I’m sure we’d all prefer) just leads to a quieter crowd, then scrolling more on their phones, and less interest by the end. Then afterward it’s just “yeah Miami played great and I enjoyed the visit and game”

So unfortunately for us fans these prob help us. Crowd was loud, 4th quarter was crazy, lockerroom was prob nuts, rivalry w in the rain.

That being said let’s make life easier vs Pitt
