The Hurricanes continue to recruit at a national level, hosting four-star California native Eli Woodard this weekend.
A USC decommit who was met with a wave of Miami “crystal balls” following his announcement, UM has surged in the wide receivers recruitment process. A 6-foot-1, 180-pound wideout who the Miami staff themselves have made the cross-country trip to visit, here’s everything Woodard said following his first visit with Miami.
On the weekend as a whole:
“What stood out to me was really the people and the culture around here, the players, everything — I loved everything about it."
“The love they showed me and the things they've shown me, just like the city of Miami as well it's like unlimited opportunities out here."
On his relationship with the coaching staff:
“Being developed by [Kevin Beard], Coach Cristobal and Coach Dawson is definitely a great opportunity for me."
“I got a great relationship with Coach KB. I haven’t known him for the longest, but since the time I have known him, it's been nothing but good and love.”
On his fit in Miami’s scheme:
“They see me playing slot and outside, being very versatile in their offense.”
On why he decommitted from USC and what other schools are involved:
“I kind of felt like I hadn't seen enough. schools to know USC was the right school for me, and they have a policy where you can't take any visits. So I decommitted to look elsewhere and explore my options more, so I know I'm making the right decision for me and my family.”
“I got two visits after this set up, which is Cal and UCLA next month.”
On his relationship with Miami DB commit Donte Wright:
“It's definitely good to see one of my friends coming out here and just trying to influence me to come out here too.”
“He was telling me how it's better over here, things like that.”
On 2027 Miami QB commit Izzy Abrams:
“I've seen him play, he’s a great quarterback for sure. I’d love to play with him.”
On where Miami stands in his recruitment:
“They're definitely one of the top schools in my recruitment.”
“I still have two other schools to see so I can't compare it too much yet.”
On what will be the deciding factor in his commitment:
“Just the school that has the best opportunity for me and my family, and for me to get where I’m trying to get in life.”
