2027 Roster Discussion

From what i’ve heard and been hearing ; Cuvet is gone shouldn’t expect his return. Alex Sosa is gone. Nick Robert is gone, not a leverage entry. And Evans is gone as well as he had really good Combine numbers hitting 96 some guys told me. Why we are so heavy in the portal now for 3B/1B and pitching.
This Is Fine GIF

And why are we waiting until the end of June to address this situation?
We should have been back channeling in late April and early May on the positions in greater need.
Oh well this staff knows more about this than any of us ...

What's your take on this portal class? This feels like a middling ACC roster to me, and as others have mentioned, w several projects that have potential but also big question marks.

And it doesn't seem like the draft will yield any surprises or hurt the roster much, unless someone takes a risk on Menendez in the late rounds.
There are a few nice pieces, potentially for the back end of the bullpen, but I think that’s a fair assessment overall.

Same.

Had dinner this past weekend with a lifelong friend and scout I don’t get to break bread with too often anymore. Despite being an FSU guy he’s the salt of the earth.

Buckle up for a long year is what I’ll say. Like two decades of football experience, we tend to look at the bright side or hope for the best. The all around talent in the game is absurd and deep and we are trending in reverse. So much so my buddy was almost apologetic and compassionate in his tone which hasn’t happened often given his roots.

This is a great job given the financial landscape of college baseball now. I’ll put my name on JD has one more year and then greener pastures are to come.

Anyone who can look at this team even remotely objective knows this. Program is a dumpster fire top to bottom

We now celebrate making regionals as a 2 or 3 seed…you can’t make it up if you tried

this end of season and offseason portal efforts seem to be "just surviving another year" under his contract and then hopefully full rebuild.... As passionate fans its hard for us to understand their timelines, but running the NEW College sports business takes full spectrum outlooks it seems... they are putting a ton of money/resources into getting FB and Bball into top machines.. Squaring those away for long term success before they tackle baseball... financially it makes sense as FB and Bball are the only money makers in college sports... as historic as our baseball program is, we just don't generate revenue to be top 2 priorities... sucks in the meantime, but lets hope for real change and support after next year...

But who thought any of them were coming back?

I wonder if the FSU fan looks at his own roster and says the same thing lol. They are worse than us

Even for you, this is absolutely absurd
Idk man.

Brother, we will be the last team standing in the ACC. Haven't you seen my preseason prediction? I am a serious person; my eyes work, I see what you and others don't see, potential, and I know it will be maximized. Why? because it was maximized last year! with a team with no talent! Just heart, grit, and a band of brothers

No surprise there. Assumed unlikely on anyone except Rob and only because of some possibilities mentioned on here that caught me off guard anyway.

Link had been taking small HS classes that weren't ranked very high and they've lost a ton of those guys anyway like Sheffield this year. They've added some good pieces in the portal this year so far but probably not as much as they needed to.

The FAMU kid, the Indiana SS, and the UConn lefty are good pulls and better than anything we've added, maybe aside from Morningstar, depending on how you view his outlook.

Plus Myles Bailey coming back. Seems about the same level as our sophomore trio. TBD how our portal pieces transition up a level or look to rebound here and how they stack up to FSUs "development" approach.

I would agree but sadly all of the stars of the past 2 years are gone. JD has to build from scratch. Even guys like Derias I have a feeling will all of a sudden be beasts.

fsu has been heading in the wrong direction since their 2024 Omaha team. Their win total has decreased each year since then, while ours has increased each year during that time. Yes, they have been better recently, but the trend shows that may end soon.
