The Hurricanes have landed a commitment from a key 2027 target at the running back position, Mississippi running back Ty Keys.

A 6-foot-2, 200-pound standout who brings impressive athleticism, Keys excels with elite twitch and burst.

He makes quick cuts and accelerates well, able to make defenders miss while also having the patience to see gaps.

The Poplarville product rushed for nearly 3,300 yards this past season, racking up 45 touchdowns in the process en route to a state championship and "Mr. Football" award for 4A Mississippi.

His production and traits shine against some of the top talents in the country --- MVP at The Opening Finals and Under Armour Combine.

When speaking to CanesInSight last month, Keys expressed excitement about playing in the Hurricanes scheme of using multiple backs.

“When you have a guy that is going to switch out with you and do the same thing you are going to do, that is good," Keys said. "You trust everybody, I like it.”

The Mississippi native becomes running backs coach Favian Upshaw's first commitment during his Miami tenure.

"We definitely got a good connection," Keys said regarding his relationship with coach Upshaw.

Keys committed to Miami over the likes of Ole Miss and FSU, becoming the Hurricanes ninth commitment in the 2027 class following some decommitments last month.

I see a little Joe Mixon, welcome to the []_[]

Welcome to RBU!

Good solid pickup, who would of knew a RB would jump on board immediately, well at least a smart one.

They are pathetic lol

Wild times. We just got the top RB from the state of Mississippi. Anyway I sure would have loved to get him and MJC. But this is a good start. I like all our other RB targets as well. I assume we're taking 2.

I know people are still upset about MJC but IMO this kid isn’t a consolation prize. Certified stud in his own right.

This giving me PTSD.

Yeah this Keys is elusive AF. Excellent prospect.

Give me a Mississippi 4 star over a Missouri 5 star any day.

Kid had 8tds and 546 yards....

in ONE GAME

Can you imagine how deflated that defense was every time Key's team got the ball on offense…
