More good news on the Daughtry front. Did some digital-detective work. As UConn is now out of the picture, the other teams getting an OV from him that might be troublesome are Arkansas and UF. FSU, Tennessee and Iowa have all finished out their OVs w/ him already. None of those 3 schools are operating confidently as they are recruiting other high-level guards.
Tennessee, which just began their ten year partnership with Adidas, is heavily involved with Nasir Anderson who played on the Atlanta Celtics on the 3 stripes circuit. Tennessee even brought another pg they’re recruiting, Micah Gordon, on an OV at the same time as Daughtry.
Arkansas is in a holding pattern with Beckham Black, who is their number one guy, but Calipari literally replaced Musselman who is a friend of his and isn’t going to be duped into thinking that the legacy play will outweigh the real relationship between the Blacks and Musselman. Word is BB is dating Alijah Arenas’ sister who is a hooper herself. Again, another fact that points to him eventually ending up at USC.
All that being said, no evidence that Calipari has gone all-in on Daughtry. Both UF and Arkansas only offered him this past June & July as well. Which made me question if they had no plan Bs.
The #1 combo guard in 2028 is Brady Peddigrew who is taking all his OVs and is set to reclassify to the 2027. Both UF and Arkansas are going all out for him. In fact, both schools offered him before they offered Cayden. Peddigrew is scheduled to OV to UF next weekend at the same time as Cayden. His OV to Arkansas is scheduled for Jan 1st, we’ll see if he ever even goes on that tbh. I’d guess UF or Illinois here.
Arkansas brings five-star guard King Gibson on an OV this Monday, and it’s possible he will commit which would lead to the cancellation of Cayden’s OV scheduled for Halloween. Louisville (which he already visited and didn’t commit) and LSU (scheduled for next weekend after Arkansas) are the other schools to watch. I’d guess Arkansas here.
LSU and Louisville are battling Witchia State for PG Reese “Lil Skip” Alston. He has taken OVs to both schools already. I think Louisville gets Reese, but they did visit Cayden Daughtry on the same day as him which shows how much everybody in the country is after Cayden. Calipari visited Cayden at the end of august as well.
