2027 Men's Basketball Recruiting

lol i wish i knew Ahmad Hudson was a lsu legacy months ago

On Saturday night, Hudson was named the Class AAAAA player of the year for the second time by the Louisiana Association of Basketball Coaches (LABC) at the Marriott after averaging 19.7 points, 13.4 rebounds and 2.7 blocked shots this past season in leading Ruston to the Division I non-select state finals. He was previously named Mr. Basketball in the state.

A source told Tiger Rag Sunday that new LSU basketball coach Will Wade is very interested in Hudson also playing for him.

Hudson’s father is former LSU guard Antonio Hudson, who played for the Tigers from 2002-05 and was also honored at the LABC banquet Saturday night. Hudson is the coach at Lincoln Prep, formerly Grambling, in Grambling and was named the Class A coach of the year for the second time. He led Lincoln to the Class A Division IV select state title this past season at 30-3 for the school’s first state championship in 34 years.

Antonio Hudson played at LSU for coach John Brady, who is the game analyst for the LSU Basketball Radio Network and was also at the banquet Saturday night to be inducted into the LABC Hall of Fame

I agree but I have honestly narrowed my list down to just Daughtery and Wise.
I like Jamison but I will always prefer the kid closest to campus for recruiting purposes.
Somewhat unrelated but given how kids are now use to a lot of movement from changing high schools and travel teams, I still feel it's easier from a roster construction and player retention standpoint that you need about 6 in state kids on the roster.
I still feel kids want to play for the team in state that they watched and are most familiar with.
I could be completely wrong but a some point, all of the player movement will stop.
 


Feels like he is a future Gator if he stays in state but Houston is an attractive destination for a four year guy.
 






Miami makes his top 10 and they will probably get an official visit but that hasn't been decided.
He is a Louisiana native who played at Calvary Christian.

It’s also easier to retain kids who are trained and coached by our HC’s older brother and father. Like Jamison has been; just as Shelton had been.

Justin Wise has a family of ‘Canes fans and an uncle who played here. So these are exactly the type of out of state kids we should be getting.

Otherwise, I agree with you on the importance of in-state recruiting and retention. Harder to do in practice, tho. We won’t have 6 in-state players this season however we did last year (Allen, Allen, Reneau, Donaldson, Maddox, & Udeh).

Still, nothing can really guarantee you’ll bring back the players you recruited in this era; ties be damned. Basketball seems to have way more roster turnover than football. The landscape is about to change with the 5 for 5 eligibility rule; and possibly, restrictions on immediate eligibility after the first transfer.

You make a lot of good points.
Just to clarify, when I mentioned 6 kids on the roster from Florida. The intent is to recruit two a year every year so you have them spread out over the roster.
For example, if the 2027 recruiting class consisted of Cayden Daughtery, Justin Wise, Kyle Blair and Lewis Uvwo (hypothetically) then this would be the start of building the roster for long term depth.
I agree that kids are too comfortable with moving every year but there are kids who want to be developed.
 


One thing for sure about Matt Painter, he will always have a 7 footer at Purdue.
He knows how to recruit and retain his roster.
Honestly, I want Miami to play them again this season so we can beat them.
For some reason, they make me boil! 😂
