Are not special.

Really unfortunate that considering we lost the national championship bc of pathetic special teams play that we haven’t corrected it yet.

Whoever runs this unit needs to be shown the door.

-Almost a blocked and we didn’t punt much.
-punt return debacle that hits Damari off the head.
 
I don't understand why we aren't more aggressive on Special Teams. We have the talent to make game changing blocks and returns, but we play so conservatively.
 
The punt return ball that touched Damari was due to a freak accident toe deflection that almost never happens. Cannot blame a coach for that. Come on now.

I thought Marcelin and Bonner were great on coverage. We punted twice. We attempted one FG and made it. They had three kickoffs; one was a touchback and the other two were returned for appx 20 yards each. We kicked off a bunch; mostly touchbacks. We had a glitch by Damari on a punt and Dylan Joyce needs to move faster.

Wtf were you expecting?
 
lol we don’t have an actual Special Teams coach so it’s not surprising. Not sure why it’s not more of an emphasis

last year early on it felt like every week we were skipping snaps on extra points. We cleaned it up as season went on but I would call it out weekly. Hopefully the same happens this year. It never bit us last year besides game 1 against the Irish when the whole operation was spoiled due to the skipped snap but we won’t be that lucky again this year if it continues
 
I’ve said this on this board going back to Randy Shannon era..

The last time we had a dedicated STC was during the Randy Shannon regime. Think about that for a second.

None under Golden, Richt, Diaz, and Cristobal. 16+ years.

Hopefully Mario understands the need. If he doesn’t he’s a ******* moron.

He's been the head coach for 5 years.

Bosher was the kicker/punter during Randy’s entire tenure and a **** good one, Lamar Miller and Travis Benjamin were breaking off returns left and right. Theron Collier and Storm Johnson had return tds. The only punt I remember being blocked was 08 at Florida.

Mario never has invested in a true ST coach. It cost Miami a championship. You wouldn’t thought he learned. There is a reason Urban Meyer coached his own ST and put such a high emphasis on it.

When Meyers was coaching there was a limit for how many on-field coaches a team can have. Beamer also coached special teams for VT. Every team had to have an on field coach double up as special teams coach.

I believe the limitation was removed around 2024. It's time to update the staff and have a dedicated special teams coach.
