Still no pure shooters and questionable depth at a lot of spots. Looks like an NIT squad as of now.

yeah literally no shooters.

Cade Tyson is still available in the transfer portal.

2023-24 Belmont (31.6 mpg): 16.2 pts (46.5% 3PT), 5.9 reb, 1.6 ast
2024-25 UNC (7.9 mpg): 2.6 pts (29.2% 3PT), 1.1 reb, 0.1 ast

The perception is that he failed at UNC last year because he's not ACC-caliber, so it would be hilarious if Coach Lucas and Miami can rehabilitate Tyson's career. It would mostly involve getting him to play his game, and not try to force him to play out of position and be something he's not.

He's committed to Minnesota

We have Tre Donaldson who is more than solid, shot 37.5% from 3 on 4.5 attempts.

The Serbian kid, Timotej Malovec, shot 36.5% from 3 in a league playing against grown men. For relative reference, Davis Bertans shot 41.5% in the same league this past season. Two of Malovec’s teammates are SEC bound (Kentucky, Auburn) and another is going to the NBA, likely a first round pick.

Jordyn Kee is a sniper. Was one of the best shooters in the scholastic eybl league, 46% from 3.

Tru Washington shot 33.7% on 3.7 attempts. The college basketball average from 3 is 34%.

Outside of these guys, our roster is a….

None of the 3 American freshmen have good shooting numbers. I can’t find LaBoy’s stats but none of his descriptors reference him shooting well.

Hopefully Marcus Allen can be at least average from 3. He’ll probably shoot two a game.

Depth for the bigs is even worse, 3 dudes on the roster taller than 6'8
Our backup big has been playing on the same team as Shane Larkin for the last two seasons lmaoooo.

I get the injury concern since we only have 11 and not 13 players. The talent is there though.

Auburn had 3 guys taller than 6’8 this past season. St John’s had 4: one didn’t play, two of them averaged 7 mpg each, and one averaged 32 mpg.

Looks like Laboy is comfy shooting off the dribble. He shot poorly when he played for the Puerto Rican national team two summers ago, but was decent in the stats for the JL3 games that I could find (4 for 10 from 3) at peach jam.

During this same stretch, Henderson was 5 for 17 from 3. Allen 7 for 29. Allen was 53% while Henderson was 47% in total fg%.

Cameron boozer was 12 for 24 from 3. Cayden was 2 for 13.

Yeah, Joe Tipton posted the breaking news a few hours after I made my post.

After almost 2 months of no transfer news from Cade Tyson, I spoke it into being. Good for Minnesota, I guess.

I have to learn to use my powers for good.

South FL sun would have him fighting skin cancer in 4 months with that skin tone

Don't get me wrong, I'd love nothing more than to see our roster littered with elite shooters. Will make it that much more difficult for opposing teams to defend the pick & roll. And although it doesn't seem like we have enough good shooting, one thing to keep in mind is that shooting is the easiest skill to learn in basketball. Out of all the elite shooters in college basketball, very few came into college known for their shooting prowess. Most of the top shooters in college weren't shooting 40% from 3 in high school. They evolved into it. Let's just hope some of the guys on our team can do the same.

Saw a headline that said college bball coaches are worried about their international signing being able to come into the states due to trumps foreign policy.

Wonder if that'll affect our 2 guys.

Played at West Oaks in Orlando, FL with Marcis Ponder this season. His games reminds me somewhat of Kenny Kadji.
I wonder if there was any interest in him from Miami under the new coaching staff.
