2026 Portal QBs

taking trips down memory lane as we await our fate
That offseason, Van Dyke became an initial name, image and likeness darling. He drove a $100,000 BMW. Even though at the time he told 247Sports: "I feel like I don't deserve. I want to reach my goals and earn it so I can pay for it myself. But it's hard to say no."

The Van Dyke Mario Cristobal pairing was expected to transform the fortunes of Miami football. Instead, injuries hampered Van Dyke for much of the 2022 season and the Hurricanes stumbled to 5-7.

That's when Alabama called. Van Dyke basically had a deal done to transfer there. The Crimson Tide weren't sure either Jalen Milroe or Ty Simpson could be the guy post-Bryce Young. Van Dyke was the proven answer. That's when Cristobal got wind of the impending move.
"You're more important than you know to this program," Cristobal said. "The guys need you."

"He convinced me to stay," Van Dyke said. "I don't regret that. I wanted to be at Miami. I was just trying to do what was best for my future, so I was listening to what Alabama had to say."

Decision making. Playing within structure. Less volatility. His ball placement also improved at Miami. You don't just make the kind of jump he made because of a better offensive line. If that was the case Beck would have made a bigger jump this year.
lol his accuracy was the same at Washington State as it was at Miami

Lets go 85% Emory / 15% Coleman. Save all that QB money. Put towards Seaton and D. Wilson and a TE + K

Same ******* movie, three years in a row now. You guys would be crucifying Mario for settling for Bailey and not swinging for Beck/Mateer/Ward etc only to watch him rain picks at hard rock all year. We’d be sitting here crying without a meaningful game to play next week.

The most ungrateful mofos in all of sports lol. Enjoy championship week, and at least wait to see what happens ya broken ****** records!

Just to throw a name out there, how about giving 2 guys a call…you mean to tell me Drake Lindsey is all cozy in Minnesota right now?

Emory is just not good on gameday. Processes way too slow. 3+ years into his career, I don’t think he can change that at this point.
This is the whole enchilada and why I'm not really open to Emory giving it a real go.

I can deal with his slightly awkward body control, I can deal with the slow release, I can deal with him not having real arm talent. I could put up with all of that if he was a cerebral QB like Steve Walsh or Dorsey. But, as nice of kid as he is and I would let him date my daughters, he hasn't been a gamer to this point and as you mentioned, I just don't know if that's something that can be changed enough for him to lead our team.

Something is wrong with us man🤦🏻‍♂️ . We are Miami, winning 13 games this year, playing in national championship, we pay NIL well to QBs, we offer the sunny beaches of South Florida, the best looking women anywhere in this country, a high performing Offensive Line, and Malachi Toney - and we cant entice a QB??? sheesh 🙄
What's wrong is our QB portal strategy. We could have enticed many decent QBs with high upside (CJ Bailey, Austin Simmons, etc.), we were just arrogant and moved like molasses.
