If Fletcher bounces I would go get Longstreet/Grunkemeyer. Either would likely produce the same blowing up the QB room effect. Longstreet has a much higher ceiling but is a complete unknown as a starting QB. Grunkemeyer has a much higher floor, but is his ceiling high enough to justify potentially losing Nickel and Coleman? I don't know.

Obviously if there is a better rabbit Coach can pull out of his loafers go take that guy.

Yes, you could lose Nickel if you take Grunk. Not sure you would lose Coleman.

Grunk played in 2024 and 2025. Assuming he does well at Miami, he could be drafted AS EARLY AS next year at this time. If he stays TWO years, Coleman could be ready to take over by then.

Longstreet is different and younger.

I would go with Grunkemeyer. Take a look inside what he did this year:

Game 1 as a starter - loses by 1 to Iowa
Game 2 as a starter - loses to #1 Ohio Taint, but has improved numbers over Game 1
Game 3 as a starter - loses to #2 Indiana, improves upon Ohio Taint numbers
Games 4 through 6 as a starter - wins 3 Big 10 games against Michigan State, Nebraska, and Rutgers
Game 7 as a starter - wins a bowl game against Clemson

All of his INTs came in his first 3 games as a starter. He had 0 INTs in his last 4 games as a starter.

With another year of coaching, practice, and weights, he could be a decent QB for us. Has played some top teams and stood in there.

I wouldn’t mind throwing a couple million at Mendoza’s younger brother & just going from there. I’ll take my chances with that compared to some of these trash *** quarterbacks with more experience
