2026 Portal QBs

“Don’t panic. Everything will be fine”
This Is Fine GIF

I can feel myself reaching the McCown/Brad Jackson stage and I don’t like it.
There is nobody available that’s worth $2+ million. Might as well try to coax somebody like McCown or Brad Jackson for under a million and you got plenty left over to retool the O line, LBer room, and whatever best available guys jump in.
You’re a week late

It would be absolutely idiotic to put all of our eggs in the Ty Simpson basket. That would be indefensible. We need to line up 1 or 2 more contingencies and have them visit.
Hey bud! Simpson has to declare for the draft by this Wednesday. And portal is in a dead period until Wednesday

I think he can remove name within 72 hours of deadline to declare so he could visit this weekend
The poster I was replying to was suggesting to not go all in on Simpson and to have two contingency plans.

My point is, we will have clarity on Simpson before we can bring any contingency plan(s) in since the dead period opens after Simpson’s decision.

The issue with simpson is that even if he enters the portal, you would still be competing with Tennessee (who is desperate for a QB) and Simpson is from that state.

Hey bud! That’s not true. He’s already declared. He has until the 21st to withdraw and enroll in Miami. Thanks bud.
The deadline for Simpson to declare for draft is January 14th. Players who are still in CFP (Miami and Indiana) have until the 23rd of January.

The last day to register and add a course at University of Miami is January 21st.

“Declaring” for draft right now is technically meaningless until the deadline (1/14). A player could declare for draft back in December and meant nothing until the official deadline. Pal.

Hey pal, I have zero idea what your point is. The 1/14 date is a nonfactor. Only the 1/21 date matters.

All of this is false.

1. I never said we shouldn’t go all in on Simpson. I said if we did, we should have contingency plans.

2. Simpson can declare for the draft, and revoke his declaration and enroll in Miami by 1/21. So your point is wrong. We won’t necessarily have clarity by the 14th.

We will have clarity whether or not Simpson will stay in the draft by the 14th. He cannot pull his name out of the draft by the 21st, bro; that deadline is the 14th.

Deadline to declare is 14th

Then he has 72 hours to pull his name out

Spring registration deadline for Miami is 21st
