2026 Portal QBs

Why are people so down on Byrum Brown?

He had a 66% completion percentage. Ran for over 1k yards. Seems like a very similar profile to D'Eriq King (statistically) when we got him from Houston.

I have a feeling that the board extremely penalizes a QB if they played against us and struggled. But our defense is elite this year. Thats not an easy task for a Qb on a team that is overmatched.

Im just curious is all. Like if Mestemaker struggles against the only decent teams he played, no worries bc we didnt see it live. But if Bailey and Brown struggle against us, they are treated like garbage qbs, it seems.

All QBs do well in the Briles system.

Even the JAG Tenn grabbed after Nico, had a decent year.

Because he is a crummy passer

Valid, but same can be said for the North Texas system.

Not really

The issue with the Briles system is the route tree.
It’s the most simplistic offense in CFB and nothing else is close.

The NFL doesn’t even want to touch Briles system position players anymore. Because none of them have ever even seen a playbook.

It’s not they Briles guys put up stars that if the concern. It’s that they do it running an offense that doesn’t prepare them for any other offense.

Pretty sure we are not settling for 5th or 6th option anymore. Brown is a decent QB but I dont think he would fit Miami/Dawson system very well. Again just my opinion. Too many other better QBs out there.

Segments of "the boarrd" will find flaws with any QBs they didn't make in a lab or on their EA NCAA design a player dynasties. There were plenty of people who didn't like Beck. Some who weren't soid on Cam, but fewer. A strong majority of this board hated Mendoza for some reason even though he lit us up so it's not just based on them looking bad vs. us. Every QB will have flaws of some sort. I don't think there's a Cam Newton just waiting out there. Ironically people seem most hesitiant about guys who are actually proven like Leavitt.

i think if all the UNT players end up going to OKSt it even more increases odds he goes there. If their RB and WR go elsewhere I like our chances better. Hope he isn’t trying to make it like a package deal with that WR

I would take him over Bailey if it was between the two.
