2026 Portal QBs

To me this isn’t close, you offer Sorsby whatever he wants quickly and if he says he’s testing NFL waters and needs time you pivot to Leavitt or Sellers. Bailey would be my #4.

Two year look:
- Brendan Sorsby
5600 yards passing
45 passing TDs
12 INTs
62% completion
1027 rushing yards
18 rushing TDs

- LaNorris Sellers
4971 yards passing
31 passing TDs
15 INTs
63% completion
944 rushing yards
12 rushing TDs

- Sam Leavitt* missed 5 games this year
4500 passing yards
34 passing TDs
9 INTs
61% completion
750 rushing yards
10 rushing TDs

- CJ Bailey
5300 passing yards
41 passing TDs
19 INTs
67% completion
490 rushing yards
10 rushing TDs

- Dylan Raiola* missed 3 games this year
4800 yards passing
31 passing TDs
17 INTs
69% completion
0 rushing yards
0 rushing TDs

- Josh Hoover
7400 passing yards
56 passing TDs
24 INTs
66% completion
0 rushing yards
6 rushing TDs

- Rocco Becht
6000 passing yards
41 passing TDs
18 INTs
60% completion
431 rushing yards
16 rushing TDs
I’d take anyone on this except for Bailey and Sellers (both are last resort, which should NOT be the case for us this year).
I’d prefer Leavitt 1st but Sorsby and Raiola would be great consolation prizes. I’d imagine all these qbs will be playing elsewhere in 26, so why not us?

Was not familiar with Sorsby's game.

Elite talent. He looks like a RB when he runs and a passer when he throws.

Him and Nico are in a tier by themselves.

Miami doesn't need to spend 4 mil on a QB again it's not worth it.....Becks best days would be in a NFL spread offense ...need to get a decent duel threat for no more than half of his NIL imo....spend the rest on a top-notch outside WR, S, DT and one or two LBs...

I hate to tell you but top tier QBs in the portal command that. You want to dumpster dive and pay $1-2M? Might as well trot Emory out there

Sorsby would be an elite option. He struggled some in 3 out of his last 5 games but he’s solid.

Oregon loses Will Stein to Kentucky.

I'd be shocked now if Dante Moore doesn't declare. He was already likely the top pick in the draft making it hard not to leave early. Now his OC will be leaving.

Which means it will likely be Miami and Oregon battling it out for the top portal QB.

I think Oregon is the only real option besides Cal for JKS. But with Cal likely getting Tosh as their HC, I think JKS stays.

I think Miami and Oregon split Sorsby and Leavitt. And given Oregon got Nix/Gabriel, to me Sorsby would be a great fit for them. However, I'd choose Sorsby over Leavitt for us as well... We'll see...

Still not convinced Raiola enters portal and Mestemaker is almost certainly following Morris.

Not disagreeing with you but Mario kinda does have a history of keeping QBs from the draft.
For sure. And for the first time in Mario's tenure, he'll have legit weapons to sell to the incoming QB.

Who wouldn't want to throw to Malachi? And sure, the OL has to replace 3 starters (likely) but you know Mirabal and Cristobal will get that right.

Just think the weak draft class will have some agents convince some guys they have a shot at being drafted high. And I think Sorsby is already getting a ton of hype as a round 2-3 QB which means someone is going to tell him he can be the Dart of this class.

So pay big then hope there are enough play makers in other areas? There are several QBs capable of putting up the same numbers as Beck behind our OL.....get a good efficient duel threat QB and top end guys to go with what we have already.....4ms got Miami the same record as 2ms...the problem last season was not suring up the D....

This season Miami didn't land that elite WR and TE to help bail out a stationary QB....give me a guy who can run some RPO and extend plays from the pocket....this was the only thing missing from Becks game (aside coaching) that could have won those games that were lost....

the problem is that the list of capable QBs putting up those numbers is VERY small (no more than 4-5, imo) and lots of big schools are in the same boat as us... potentially.

Beck was absolutely worth it. If we don’t get screwed and make it to the playoffs, that would be very clear. Not sure there’s another QB I’d pick right now to lead Miami in post season.
