2026 Portal QBs

Killed it back-to-back years with portal QBs & likely revisiting this off-season. At what point do we recruit & develop a QB who can step in? What’s the word on Nickle? Is it Coleman? And if so, when can we turn over the keys?

He would be good.

I would love, however, a QB with multiple years of eligibility so we don’t have to look for a QB every year.

Mendoza would’ve been great but the type of year he’s having, he may be a one and done at Indiana.

Thinking the Cal kid or BYU kid with his brother but that is a tight knit community.

Only a true freshman is going to be required to play two more. Most sophomore that have started could play one year at Miami and jump if they perform well. Do I think it is smart, no.

Picking from second year kids :mensah, bailey, cal kid, mestemaker, washington(md), Williams(uw)

Bringing Bailey home likely gets you two years as he is not polished.

Yeah - I think Bailey has to be the target when it’s all set and done.

Bailey is already a very intriguing name for a lot of NFL draft people. He's a legit 6'6 and he's already displayed that he can make every throw. If Mendoza goes first round this year there's zero chance that Bailey is in college for another 2 years

Mendoza is getting first round buzz after breaking out in his junior year. He only threw for 16 TDs last year and he's already matched that at IU. You said Bailey is not as polished and will more than likely give you 2 years... that's not true. He's completing almost 75% of his passes right now and already has 13 TDs through the air and thats after losing their best WR to the portal. He's a lock to be 3 and out

cam word and Carson Beck say hello. The difference between day2-3 and day one is polishing. I actually think Mendoza could use another year to get from maybe day 1 to top 10. Does it mean he stays, not likely.
