2026 Pitching Rotation Discussion

BC’s game notes for the weekend (Sunday is still listed as TBA for us):
Interesting. They must be thinking of experimenting w DeRias in a long relief or 7th - 8th inning role and see if one of the freshman arms can assume the Sunday SP slot.

At least DeRias can bring it 95 MPH every now and then, when you need a K or to prevent a 3 run home run off a hanging off speed pitch.

Sunday guy has always been about throwing strikes for me. I like santos Olson taking over Sundays. Leave Derias in long relief and slowly bring along the two injured arms.

Who goes to midweek then is the big question that I don’t have an answer for

Finally had time to listen to JD’s weekly show with DMoney, and it sounds like Tate is still in the mix for Sunday. JD mentioned deciding between him and Santos-Olson on matchups.

Shoutout to DMoney for the quality of questions he’s been asking btw. I’ve been waiting years for someone to use their time talking to the head coach to ask about things like the pitching rotation.

we could slide DeRias back to mid week without completely crushing his confidence. He does have the stuff, if he can figure it out. That being said, it has been nice not stepping all over ourselves in the mid week game

Friday Evans
Saturday: Ciscar
Sunday: Santos Olson

Midweek: Derias gets one crack at it

Bullpen: Dorn, Cooney, Collera, Glidwell, etc

Closer: Bilka

If Derias fails in midweek: collera or glidewell get a crack at midweek. Preferably Glidewell for consistency purposes

With my gloomy shades on we only have ciscar and evans as solid. Relying heavily on frank Menendez saving us as a sunday starter.

The rest are all up/down depending on day and inning. So basically platooning all of them for midweeks and getting through weekend relief.

Personally im praying Robert comes back as a really reliable piece, or even midweek starter. And im putting a lot of stock in the folks hyping Drummond to work his way into a significant reliever role.

Relying on 2 arms who are recovering from throwing arm injuries is the most JD Arteaga thing ever.

Pathetic. But hope they come back ready to go. Tall order though
