Following his official visit,
@DMoney and I were able to catch up with Hurricane legacy Canon Pickett, a 2026 OL out of Tampa, FL. When speaking to him he talked and carried himself like a Hurricane commit, all smiles as he left his visit. I expect this to be a Florida/Miami battle, with him and Breck Kolojay rounding out Miami's 2026 OL class. Here's what Pickett had to say following his visit:
Takeaways from the weekend:
"I definitely enjoyed the weekend just being around everybody, all the recruits and all the coaches. And we had some presentations that were very informative, like telling you about academics, some stuff about living life off a campus and just getting to talk to the players about it, everybody around me was just good.”
“I mean, I've been here a hundred times, I've kind of seen a lot of this stuff, but I really feel like getting to be around the people, that's what's important. They say, the people make the place and I get to be around the recruits that are committed here, the players that are here. It's all good.”
On where he’s at in his recruitment:
“I’m still in the third phase, I got Florida next week, and then after that, I’ll make my decision soon probably like late June. I don’t have a set date yet.”
On seeing himself at Miami:
“I definitely feel I'm definitely excited about Miami. I feel like it could be one of the best options. I know that they’ll develop me as a man, I know I'll enjoy my life off campus, and I know that you have a free academic too. And so I'm just excited about everything.”
On his experience with his visit:
“Jaden Wilkerson (was my player host), I know him a little bit before with Cali Power. Things were good, he was a cool person, and I just got to see like, I got to be with a couple of the offensive lineman and I saw that it's kind of like a brotherhood here.”
