That sounds nice but I would honestly take a pass on Cayden Boozer.
Nice kid and I don't mean this with any I'll will toward him or his family.
If I am being honest, I don't think he would start over Tru Washington nor is he a better shooter than Allen or Norvat.
It doesn't matter if it is Duke or Miami, he is still coming off the bench.
That is a horrible look for him to transfer to Miami after what is realistically a disappointing and unsuccessful season in Durham.
Don't get me wrong, if Coach Jai wants Cayden Boozer over Brandon McCoy then I am going to cheer for him just like all the other players on the team.
If we are being honest, Cayden was never a 5 player but he is a good player who will be a solid college player for the next 3 years.
Let's make sure we understand one thing though, Cayden isn't guaranteed to be the starting PG at Miami for the next 3 years.

He doesn’t play the same position as Tru and he’s a much better PG than Dovrat or Allen.

You absolutely take him if he wants in

Rippey isn't going to Duke to be a backup. Cayden at the 1 would be a tremendous pickup for us

The benefit of Cayden coming in the fold is that he will be playing for his former HC alongside two of his former teammates. Sign me up for that.

All that being said, Dante Allen was oftentimes the third best player on NightRydas (2nd being Caleb Wilson), and Brandon McCoy played 17u in the 2024 circuit & was better than both Dante and Cayden; despite being a year younger. He actually had similar stats to Shelton. He’s going to be really good and I would prefer to see him as a Hurricane if I had to choose between the two. I don’t think we should overstate Cayden’s abilities even though he is a tremendous player.

As far as running the point Cayden has the edge however we won’t have the luxury of a having up to 4 1st round talents on the court with him like he has at Duke.

It may not be up to Jai, however. What i mean by that is maybe Duke circled back towards McCoy and that’s where he wants to be at regardless; or Arkansas or wherever else. Bird in the hand etc.

If Cayden wants in and McCoy hasn’t made his mind up, you don’t wait to see what’s cracking lol. Next year should be fun.
