"I'm really excited to get back down there," Wilson told CaneSport. "They had a very good game against Notre Dame. I really wish I could have made it but stuff happens. I'm very excited to get back down there. I'm very excited to get back in touch with D-Train (executive director of football and de facto general manager Dennis Smith) and all of them."

Wilson said Smith, who has remained personally involved in his recruitment, calls him constantly and has been one of his favorite coaches or staffers to interact with through his recruitment. He said he has a lot of respect for Smith and that "he really wants me down there."

Wilson is excited to reconnect with him this weekend.

"He's a really chill dude," Wilson said. "He's a funny dude too. I think he's one of the funniest coaches I've ever talked to. He's always got a colorful suit on. He's not bland.He's very energetic and stuff like that."
