The Miami Hurricanes have begun to chip away at their 2026 flip targets, flipping four-star defensive edge De’Anthony Lafayette from LSU.

A 6-foot-1, 230-pound edge rusher from Orlando, Fla., Lafayette is lightning quick off the edge and closes well.

A 6-foot-1, 230-pound edge rusher from Orlando, Fla., Lafayette is lightning quick off the edge and closes well.

Last season he racked up 73 tackles, 40 QBHs and 17.5 sacks in 11 games, and is leveling up this season.

Looking at his film, Lafayette creates havoc in both the run and pass game, complementing his speed with an underrated amount of power. This is a twitched up athlete whose burst and change of direction have all the signs of a natural rushing threat.

He visited as part of the first official visit weekend (5/30-6/1), but eventually committed to LSU in early July. The ’Canes however continued to push, and pounced following former LSU head coach Brian Kelly’s firing.

Other schools such as Oklahoma and FSU were also pushing for the Central Florida native.

Lafayette becomes Miami’s 27th commit in the 2026 class, joining a defensive line room of Asharri Charles, Anthony Kennedy Jr., Tyson Bacon and Frederic Sainteus.

The Hurricanes will look to continue to build their defensive line class as they push to flip recent visitors in Isaac Chukwurah and Logan Nagle alongside five-star Oregon commit Tank Jones, Texas A&M commit Bryce Perry-Wright and Alabama commit Nolan Wilson.

Don’t like the size but love the film. Hopefully we hit on one of these frames eventually. Is staff plan on him at the edge does anyone know?

Congrats to the young Lion and future Cane. Iron sharpened iron on Valencia field and now two former lions are back to back Canes, repping Otown & Lake Nona.

Shoutout to Coach Ro, between Zane Durant at PSU and now DeAnthony Lafayette; coach is pumping out some monster undersized Dlineman from Lake Nona.

Go Canes
