“I don’t think that’s a good narrative for us to have out there that he doesn’t have enough support,” Rhule said. “I don’t think that’s good for our players. And not good because he’s already got SEC schools calling him. I don’t want Nebraska people to start saying that, because that’s happened before here. We don’t need that now here.”

“I don’t, just kind of part of the deal, right?” Rhule said. “It’s kind of part of the deal. So, I just don’t think it’s a real good world for us at Nebraska to be saying like, ‘Oh, he has no good players around him,’ because that was sort of some of the narratives of the last thing, right? We have good players here. We’ll get better. We’ll get better. We’ll get better. Like I said, I think we’re two plays away from being in the big, big conversation. But we’re not out yet, so we’re going to just try to get better this week.”

“ut yeah, I mean I think everyone has people (being contacted),” Rhule said. “But I know Anthony really wants to be here, he loves being here, he loves his teammates.

“It’s like with coaches, man, I’ve had coaches leave and then a year — thinking that another school would have a bunch of trees with fruit and great players and their life would be easier and then a year later they call me and say, ‘Gosh, I never should have left.’ So I think this is a great, great, great place and I just want to challenge our team, challenge our coaches, challenge every person while at the same time protecting them because they are going out there playing on broken feet. And they are going out there. They are sleeping in the office. They are giving this fanbase everything they have but it’s not good enough yet, so we’re going to just keep doing it. We’re just going to keep doing it, keep doing it no matter what the cost to each and every one of us. We’re going to find a way to get it done. And that’s next Saturday against Washington.”
