Dabo Swinney calls Clemson's final scrimmage the 'worst' practice of camp

None of the quarterbacks were impressive in the final scrimmage, Swinney said.

"Nobody was good enough to win today."

-- Swinney said the team took Wednesday off for the first day of classes because usually it's not a good day of practice, adding to his disappointment in the final 'preseason game.'

Lashalee said CJ wanted to stay at SMU but after a month of negotiations with his representatives, they couldn’t make it work. Then detailed how he was happy to help CJ land at Clemson because he wants the best for him. Has a good relationship with Dabo


Clemson said he ran a 4.38 when he first arrived and was clocked at a 4.27 more recently even after gaining 10 pounds.

Found it funny in his presser, it came up about pass blocking and Dabo said he does a good job but him as a coach is to make sure he isnt pass blocking lol.. Said he didnt bring him there to pass block :ibis-roflmao-sm3:

If I was a coach I don’t think I could bring on a guy 2 weeks prior to the season started, football isn’t as plug and play and chemistry is huge.

I also still think culture matters significantly in football and I don’t think bringing on guys to start out of nowhere 2 weeks prior to the first game can be good for the locker room.

If he’s coming in to compete that’s one thing but you don’t bring on a guy this close to the season to compete lol

As a player it’s not even conducive. The adjustment period is absolutely more than just 2 weeks and I’m very curios to see how many (if any) of these last second transfers actually pan out well.

Coaches get fired if they dont win, **** month 1 pink slips might roll in, lol.. I already see these players committing places, if a coach thinks a player can help him win, he will kayfabe the situation and give whatever excuse a fan needs to nod along and feel like culture is great!

Yep and the coaches that operate in that way typically have their teams call it in once the going gets tough (see FSU/Colorado/UNC etc) . You can’t have a bunch of mercenaries on a team and expect players to care about anything else outside of themselves.

Football REQUIRES a TEAM. Not individuals. If you’re not fighting for the man next to you then your team isn’t getting far. Lane Kiffin is someone that will use the portal over and over and the teams that do tend to flop one way or another. I think he brought in a DL from ND last week, I can’t imagine that LSUs DL room would be happy getting passed up by a guy that joined for 2 weeks after they spent 8 months working.

Players know when coaches are out for themselves and they know when the coach is looking at a PLAYERS best interest.

That’s why recruits love Mario so much. His emphasis on relationships is HUGE in this era. We could very well use the upgrades at TE/LB but it’s already been said we aren’t in the market.
