NBA announces early entry candidates for NBA Draft 2026

71 players have filed as early entry candidates for the 2026 NBA Draft which will be held June 23-24.

The NBA has announced 71 players have filed as early entry candidates for the draft in June – reportedly the smallest number of players in more than two decades.

Yet, just five years ago, the NBA announced 363 players had filed as early entry candidates – reportedly the highest number in league history. And the numbers have dipped every year since then.

There’s little mystery behind the trend.

209 of that 363 actually stayed in the draft; and that 71 number will certainly dwindle, at least halved, in the next month; nevertheless, guys not even testing the waters is striking. Last year the NBA had 106 guys declare and only 32 non-international players remained in the draft post-combine.

Players staying in school longer is one of the best developments in improving the quality of NFL and NBA in a longtime imo.

Yuge Loss for UCLA who thought they had this in the tuck. ******* Mick Cronin is lowkey on the hotseat. First round exit or a missed tournament appearance could do him in.

I agree; the program he chose and his age made me surprised he was going to return for another year. Haugh and Mullins opting out have helped him.

Still, he is very close to a surefire first rounder; he’s just not a lottery guy with his shooting numbers. He could rise up to late lottery however it’ll be a tough task. The only realistic spot for him is #14 with Charlotte. And they’d have to really love him because they need a defensive big.

It's not difficult to see why UCF is making big strides with its programs.

Has a prime location in talent-rich Florida, massive enrollment/passionate fanbase, and has rapidly ascended to the Power Four. And, it still has significant growth potential as it puts megabucks into athletics infrastructure.
