2026-27 Men's Basketball Transfer Portal

Probably gave Dovrat an assessment that he did not want to hear. Seems like a mutual parting. Temo and Salih may stay because they were freshman. Both require a lot of work to even become serviceable at the P5 level.
Hoping Jai can replace both of these bench players. They're not what we need to repeat/improve on this past year's record in 2026-27.

If Lucas can't improve the team with a replacement for Dovrat, he's not the recruiter I think he is.
I think @Pentagon Cane is correct that Dovrat and Lucas had different concepts of what he can provide. I don’t think he was starter material for next seoasn, but I did think he could play 12-15 minutes off the bench as opposed to 5 minutes like this season.

I don't think Dovrat saw the court against Purdue. Nailed to the bench. Was he injured, or Coaches Decision?

Smith would have eaten him alive. When we went down by double digits he probably should have thrown Dovrat in for a couple of minutes to see if he could have supplied a spark from beyond the arc. Other than Timo for a disastrous 3 minutes drawing a couple of fouls, it was only Tru off the bench.

It's now official.
I think between Oswin Erhunmwunse, Somto Cyril and Bangot Dak, Miami will have their replacement for Ernest Udeh Jr.

are there any SoFla or Jai connections with any of those dudes? and how would you rank them on who would help us the most?

And that weak bench needs correcting this offseason.

Are you just trying to link every player that hits the portal to us?
everyone GIF

Absolutely not.
There are probably 250+ and counting kids in the transfer portal right now.
I might have posted close to 20 at best.
Honestly, I am only posting players at the 5 who could potentially replace Ernest Udeh Jr and those who have the combination of shooting and defense.
Largely because I know most people want to see the team Shooting percentage increase but it shouldn't be at the detriment of the teams ability to defend, rebound and score in transition.
I think the latter is the foundation Coach Jai Lucas is trying to build the team and I don't think he wants to sacrifice defense for shooting.
There absolutely has to be a balance.
Personally, I think that is why Malovec and Dorvat saw their PT decrease as the season went on.
If you are suspect on defense and you aren't making jump shots then it's hard to justify giving a player minutes.
Again, I could be wrong but that is how I see things going forward in Coral Gables.

Had a tough time in the tournament game but he’s legit. Hopefully Jai and the staff take a long look here.

He might follow Scott Cross to Georgia Tech, but that’s just a guess

I never liked IJA's bench demeanor while he was here. Kid looked like he didn't care when we were getting blown out on a consistent basis
I mean he didn’t get minutes on a 7 win team and what I think most would consider by far the worst team Miami’s had in 20 years. Can’t really blame the guy in the portal era, especially as a kid from across the country.
