On Thursday night, Henderson shared on social media that he had asked for and got released from his National Letter of Intent with the Duke Blue Devils, which he signed last November. He’s a 6-foot-6 small forward from the class of 2025.

Being the top-ranked player in Texas naturally attracts a lot of attention, leading to offers from schools like Duke, Louisville, Texas Tech, and Texas, among others.

According to the 247Sports 2025 Rankings, Shelton Henderson is ranked as the 21st player in his class, the fourth-best small forward, and the top player in Texas.

After leading Bellaire Academy with an average of 22.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, and four assists per game, Shelton was honored as the Guy V. Lewis Award winner by the Houston area. Henderson is also a defensive bully, which Lucas is looking for in defensive players.

Jai Lucas was a big part of why he first decided to go to Duke. While nothing's set in stone, it looks like things are shifting towards the Miami Hurricanes.

Any visits set up?
