Can somebody explain to me why ND isn’t on this graphic? Comparable metrics to all of these teams and much better RPI than UVA. Did finishing under .500 in ACC play keep them out of consideration altogether?

The easiest explanation is that the Southeastern AD was the committee chair and that one of the spots was a gift to him even if they didn’t put them in the field.

We’d play the loser of the Saturday night game on Sunday afternoon. If we win that we’d the have to beat the winner of the Saturday night game twice in the regional final to advance.

The key to a regional is to win your first two games, and put yourself in the drivers seat with two shots in the regional final.
