2025 MLB Draft

Just saw a guy sign for $2500, wonder how those negotiations go

Your not worth $50k, not worth $25k, not even worth $5k, but we’ll give you $2,500
Negotiation before draft is you are probably a 20th round pick we will pick you in Round 7 etc but you sign for this amount. He gets to say he was a top 10 round pick but has no leverage. He gets a cool story after baseball is over for him.

Yeah I had a pitcher go in the 17th about 12 years ago. Senior. All American. Lefty. Legit stuff.

$1500 and a plane ticket. Take it or leave it.

This just makes me think of how much the parents pay for travel ball yearly, and it’s not just baseball

Its girls soccer, etc

Baseball, softball,, competitive cheer, soccer, boy's and girls basketball, lacrosse,....just weekend trip to Disney for the different sport's is outrageous.
It's soooo much $ traveling around the state every weekend for every sport.
My Dad steered us away from hockey because of the travel and cost for rink time, equipment and coaching. The cost is one thing, but the time and travel commitment is nuts.

I have two nephews who are doing travel lacrosse. Every weekend they have a road trip somewhere and my brother in law is in hotel rooms for multiple days plus lacrosse equipment is not a cheap sport to play either.

On a perfect world we get two weekend arms and another bullpen guy. Losing the FIU and Holy Cross guys really set us back .

I wonder if Easton Marks would have signed an UDFA deal if he’s willing to sign as a 19th round pick

Was he even ever serious about coming to Miami?

He was a mercenary type player...play one year and move on. I wasn't surprised he made himself available to be drafted. I think he tried to use the Miami scholarship as leverage....
I hope Williams doesn't go that route and stays to play next season.

My teammate went in 2017 and signed for $1k and they told him to use it on his plane ticket to Arizona lol

I talked to a few scouts coming out of college who said don’t even try to negotiate the $1k if we pick you, just sign and show up.

It’s interesting to see guys sign UDFA contracts out of JUCO rather than go play in a P4 conference for a year?

Do they hate college that much?
