2025 College Baseball Talk

So, what's the takeaway - JD over-achieved in the post-season last year but the jury's out on whether he can recruit well enough to build and develop Omaha-type teams?
I’m not sure there really is a JD related takeaway with a four average, although you can kinda guess at the cap of his first four year average considering Gino’s two best years will be the next years to go. It’s fairly complementary of Gino as a regular season coach, which is fair.

I mostly just thought it was an interesting visual of program trajectories: Wake up, Stanford down, Mike Jr being a disaster at FSU, Link’s impact at ND and FSU, etc.

Agree, and Ark somewhat under-performing in the post-season.

From a source yesterday. The first practice will be in 18 days (1/23/26). There will be a captain's scrimmage before that, and I will let everyone know the time and day of that scrimmage.

It's almost time for the talking to be over and time to go back it up on the field
Pressure's on now w the performance of the football team. Echevarria has stood by his words on the commitment to athletics - props to him and everyone involved in administration and the athletic department.

It would be nice to see a football/baseball run like we had around the turn on the century. Go Canes!

The draft may be shortened again, with high school players no longer eligible, as soon as the 2028 draft
I've been hinting at this. We are 340 days away from an MLB lockout, and we are 500 days away from college baseball becoming the minor leagues. Fewer minor league teams mean fewer players for their system. There will likely be 10 rounds total. High School recruiting will matter even more, and following it will become even more interesting. Only one place covers it. CanesInSight

Is this good for the sport?

Great for college baseball. More top end talent goes to college and if they do contract A Ball, a much shorter runway to the big leagues.
Agree. Let's hope we continue to up our scholarship number in the coming years, and maybe get football boosters to toss some NIL crumb$ our way :).

It's almost time, gentlemen. Our collective needs to be ready for this moment
