Iv been seeing a lot about strength of schedule from various sites and accounts and so iv decided to dive into just how Tough/Easy our schedule looks for this 2023 season starting with:

1. Miami Ohio:

2022 Record - 6-7

Best Win: 17-14 @NorthWestern
Worst Loss: Vs Western Michigan 10-16

Recruiting class coming in: Composite 103 Transfer 110
Best players coming back:

Starting QB (Dual Threat SR) lead in Passing & Rushing
Starting TE (top returner in Yards)
Starting RB (2nd in yards)
Top LB Tackler (Now SR)
Top CB

Top Recruits coming in:

3 ⭐️ (85 Grade) LB
3 ⭐️ (84 Grade) ATH (playing WR)
3 ⭐️ (82 Grade) WR

Top Transfers Coming in:
4⭐️ (89 Grade) OT From Kentucky
3⭐️ (86 Grade) RB from SC

Top Units: Secondary/DL/QB

Important players Lost:

CB (89 Grade) to Ole Miss
OT (88 Grade) to OU
OG (88 Grade) to Iowa
Top WR (To the Draft)
2nd string RB (87 Grade) to LT
2nd String WR (Graduation)

Averaged 20.72 Points a game
Allowed 26.9 Points a game

Overview: diving deep into this team was a tad difficult as they are not covered very much. But from what I gathered there are a few things.

1. Offensive Line will be experienced. They Gain a Transfer From Kentucky to cover a Tackle spot and their LT position is currently manned by a 5th Year SR. They average about 3.5 years of experience and their starting 5 averages at about
6’5 3/5ths & 310Lbs

2. Their WR Room will be completely overhauled. They lost their top 2 contributors and their top returner only had 15 Catches Last season. 2 of their top 3 Recruits are WRs but they also lost 3 more WRs to the portal (lost 5 gained 3 Freshman) so I expect Miami to Dominate on the perimeter.

3. We should dominate the trenches. PERIOD.
Their DL averages about 6’3 256Lbs
Our OL averages 6’5 317 Lbs with a ton of experience:

LT - Z Nelson (Multi Year starter and possible R1/R2 Player
LG - J Cohen (Multi year starter at Alabama )
C - M lee (Multi Year starter at UCF
RG - A Cooper (2nd year player with High potential and is roughly 350Lbs)
RT - F Maugoa (5 star Freshman with a college ready frame)

Not to mention we will have:

D. Chaney
H. Parrish
A. Allen
M. fletcher
J. Brown

With our improved OL (and improved Back field/offensive scheme) we should dominate that part of the game.

Biggest questions: What will our Run D Look like ?

We gave an Upgraded DL, LB & DC room but we have struggled with Dual Threat QBs in the past.
They will do a lot of RPO/Scambling for their QB (who was their leading rusher) and they bring in a top RB transfer (by their standards) as well S return their top RB already. We won’t know the full extent our our offense or defense in general until after A&M but this will be a good chance to see if we will continue to be frustrated by Running QBs or if we can execute a game plan to shut them down.

Final Take: after everything I hear/read within the board about the OC/DC, OL Room, WR Room, RBs, LB Improvements and cultural changes I expect a dominant performance. It’ll be a Friday night, game 1 and a chance for EVERYONE to show this is not 2022.

Final score: 48-6

Their OL was a big liability for them last season. Their best OL (LT) is now back from injury (missed all last season).

Rest of OL aren't very good.

For my eye test, this puts a lot of unfair pressure on Miami's DL and LBs.

You want them to dominate, but new year, new team, new coordinator....

My MSS condition is creeping towards a flare up.

Again, unfair to say, but 2Q-4Q total domination by our Canes will light a small candle of hope...

I see a sloppy game that we end up breaking open late. 38-13, 31 points by the O and a late defensive TD.
