6’0 175lbs 4-star CB out of Waxahachie TX, goes to 6A school Waxachie

Waxahachie is South of Dallas & South DeSoto/ Red Oak area.

Had 30tcks 5TFL’s 3PBU’s 1FF 1FR & 1INT his Junior year.

Is a raw Corner but has very good natural skills, last year was his first season as a CB & he did well. In the first clip of tape he did a really good job with initial one-hand jam off outside release with leverage, he completely rerouted the WR & forced him to the outside using the sideline as an extra defender & absolutely boxed out the WR, then after neutralizing & slowing down the route while in phase he read the QB got his head around & made the pick. That was textbook Boundary coverage.
@1:00 he showed phenomenal speed turn ability & good eye discipline reading the WR & not falling for head fakes.

He’s a naturally fast pure cover corner who displays very good physicality in Bump & run Press man with fluid hips, ideal arm length & showed good football IQ & awareness playing in off zone coverage as well. He’s also a pretty good tackler that isn’t afraid to stick his nose in there & put a hat on somebody. He’s not like a lot of track athletes that lack physical aggression needed to play DB, he’s not a finesse player at all.

His track times have improved greatly from last year to this year:

100M
- 11.01 (2021)
- 10.67 (2022)

200m
- 22.12 (2021)
- 21.77 (2022)

Has legit 4.4 speed, with very good upside. He’s also not a typical skinny track kid, he can get up to the 190lbs range & not lose too much speed or explosion. He’ll be a kid that can play as a TF due to his physical frame & athletic trajectory.

Plays for Texas Flex 7v7 squad & fits the same profile as other Tejas CB’s like Ennius Rakestraw, Marvin Covington, Jahari Rogers etc that were Dallas area speedsters that teams are taking & developing to have speciality style cover corners that can keep up with the massive influx of speed at WR. His teammate from last year was another raw 3-star CB Jaelyn Davis-Robinson that LSU took in their 2022 class.

He committed to TTech last year back in November, but over this spring his recruitment has been heating up with some good offers & has been a rising prospect that has performed well on the TX camp circuit. The expectation is that he probably won’t stick to with his TTech commitment so a lot of teams have recently jumped in on his recruitment & are applying pressure, IMO Miami should too.

Holds offers from UF, LSU, Baylor, TCU, Ole Miss, Oregon, Utah, Stanford, AZ ST, Louisville, BC, Houston & SMU

@Liberty City El so the state of Alabama has 3 5 star Cbs why arent we after either of them
You answered your own question...

Take a wild guess as to where three 5-star CB’s from ALABAMA are gonna go to school???

Lol, even if they don’t all go to Bama, they’re most likely staying in SEC country.

Sure we should still recruit them & give it a shot, but realistically that’s still a bit of an uphill climb for us.

We have a better chance at getting Georgia, Texas & Louisiana Corners than we do Alabama.

Well if it’s any consolation, there’s some talk that AJ Harris is actually leaning towards UF right now & even Tony Mitchell has been receptive to Tennessee lately.

Now will they actually end up there? Maybe, maybe not... The thing about Bama & their CB recruiting is they’re always in it for kids they really want until they sign their LOI, so it’s entirely possibly that AJ Harris commits to UF or Clemson, but still gets swooped late by Bama.

Same with Tony Mitchell, UGA, LSU, UF & TAMU have all been after him pretty heavily despite the fact he’s seen as a Bama lean right now. I think he ends up signing with Bama but lots of other teams are on him.

But that’s just how it is for Bama they pretty much get who they want across the board, except for a few prospects here & there, but for the most part they tend to get the kids the zero in on. And now with TRob handling their CB recruiting they’re not gonna have a hard time convincing elite kids to continue re-hatching into that program.

What Miami can take advantage of is presenting ourselves as a destination place for kids that aren’t lining up to get in the back of the line of the conveyer belt to teams with already crowded rooms & will have a crowded class. We have to push early playing time & NIL as the main selling points to be an attractive program for CB’s.

Because even with a newly comprehensive financial investment into Miami’s overall program, CB recruiting is a sweet science & it will remain difficult at Miami until we start producing results at that position. So we have to take an aggressive approach & really attack the recruiting landscape to find legit Corners that can be developed & flourish here.

Recruiting CB’s to Miami might be one of the toughest jobs in college football, hopefully Coach Addae will forge new ground in this frontier.

Tejas has some nice CB prospects this cycle
Every cycle; it’s why I never understood why we don’t tap into that talent pool especially with how much we’ve struggled locally with Corners.

Schools like Bama, UGA & Clemson have all benefited greatly from having a pipeline down there, even schools like Stanford, Notre Dame & Michigan ST have figured it out, **** even UF & FSU have had success stealing CB prospects from there, Miami should be no different.

We should have a satellite office in Houston. Its a city that has elite football played within its greater area and has no real loyalty to the Texas schools. UH has started some buzz but overall the talent there is there for the anybody go grab.

I agree with you and i think the history suggest you’re right as well, but I’m curious as to why you say recruiting corners to Miami is one of the tougher pulls

it seems to me that, from a skill position standpoint, there is so much pressure, both internally and externally, to pursue SFL athletes (particularly DBs). The way previous staphs have responded to that pressure was to exclusively pursue SFL DBs and ignore Texas, Georgia, etc. So when we inevitably strike out on the elite, we settle for the mediocre. After all, SFL 3*s are everyone else's 5*s right!!

I know TRob was only here for a cup of coffee, but I do appreciate the DB haul that he brought in. Now Mario is bringing the national perspective that he had to have in Oregon to UM while balancing that against the SFL talent and mentality. You've heard the rumblings of "He's paying more attention to oos prospects than SFL prospects". I think that's incorrect...I just think that he's actually paying attention to oos prospects more than previous staphs. If he starts winning at the rate we all think he will, then he'll get away with it and the SFL mentality towards UM may change.

Of course I'm stuck up here in 30 degree weather at the end of April so what do I know?
d should be no different.

What exactly makes recruiting CBs to Miami so difficult? Is it that we haven't had results at that position lately? That may be part of it but there must be another reason.

It’s just due to lack of success & not putting a lot guys in the league at that spot post Dynasty era.

The majority of the 5-star & high ranked CB’s we’ve gotten since Antrel Rolle have pretty much been busts.

Brandon Harris, Artie Burns, Corn Elder & Malek Young were good in college, but guys like Tracy Howard spearhead the long list of guys who never lived up to their potential here. Part of it was just bad evals from ****** staffs lead by dolts like Shannon, Folden & Diaz, theat couldn’t eval or recruit their way out of a wet paper bag.

I’m not saying that it’s an impossible task or that it won’t be overcame with this regime, I’m just saying that until Miami turns the corner & shows that we can actually produce on a high level & get guys to the league (at CB) with frequency, it’s going to continue to be an uphill battle that we have to fight on the trail.

But luckily, we have the best staff we’ve had here in decades & are spending more money than we ever have before, so there’s hope it will change & change soon.

100. Houston is the state for us 😂 the rest of Texas is the rest of Texas. Tom Herman dropped the ball with not sticking it out at UH. We had a plan

he's another malik curtis, right?

doesn't know much about playing the CB position, but he's got such raw ability, a good CB coach is going to want him in the room.
