We're ranked #13th in the total talent composite for this year.

For comparison:
A&M is 4th
Clemson is 5th
Texas is 6th
Oregon is 7th (don't let the Duckies say Mario left their team barren)
LSU is 8th
Notre Dame is 10th
UF is 12th
UNC is 16th
FSU is 18th

We've got work to do in building this roster to compete with the true elites, but this team also isn't that devoid of talent.

That list shows you you can't win important games on talent alone. I believe you need -- overall talent, talent coverage across all 26 positions (e.g. you can't have your kick returner muffing two kickoffs), quality coaching and disruptive game breaking talent.

You can win a lot of games with the first three legs of the stool. But you need all 4 including the elite game-breakers to be a playoff contender. I think we have 3 of the 4 and are looking for that final one.

I’d like to see that number after Mario and his staff have had two full cycles of signing the type of players they want in their program. Oregon is at #7. I’d be shocked if Miami isn’t in the top 5.

Our schedule:

Southern Miss 85
Texas A&M 4
Middle TN 103
North Carolina 16
Virginia Tech 52
Duke 63
Virginia 59
Florida State 17
Georgia Tech 30
Clemson 5
Pittsburgh 45
So basically we will have a more talented roster than almost everyone we face. Where have I heard that before.

So LSU was 8th, and we're 13th?

I SAW LSU play.

I'd suggest the pud pullers that came up with that list are mostly FOS, and frankly - could use a 5-gallon *****.

Does this just take into account stars out of high school? There should be a system that ranks stars + game experience and subsequent grades.

I wonder where A&M was prior to last year's class. I'm sure that jumped them several spots.

The top 3 are in a league of their own. All the rest of deficiencies that make them vulnerable to likely upsets. Doesn't mean any of them are unbeatable.

It's usually mid 3rd qtr when you see better rosters pull away if the less talented team giving them a battle to start out. You saw it in ND v Ohio and Clemson v GT. That will be our 2nd challenge v Texas A&M. First will be not making mistakes and fall behind in 5 minutes by 2 scores.

Go thru our roster and tell me if that **** really matters for us lol

Having more talent typically makes you the favorite and increases your chances of beating a lesser-talented team but it does not guarantee victory.

In one single game, there are so many variables including luck that even teams that are 20+ point favorites lose. The better team does not always win the game.

With that said, we want to get to a point where we have overwhelming talent and hopefully Mario can take us there.
