2020 is almost here. Does Miami win a national championship in this new decade?

The program will start winning titles when the BOT / Admin / AD are on the same page and vision of fielding a team that can compete with the programs that care about winning championships. The current state is fielding a team that allows the school to collect ACC checks.
It's poisoned they will never want title they want gender fluid **** and social media titles.

I didn't think 10 years ago that Clemson would win 2, maybe 3, this decade.
They went the 2 decades prior without having a 10-win season and were 6-10 in bowl games.

I didn't think 10 years ago that Pitt would win a title. Turns out I was right.

Is Miami more like Clemson or Pitt?

I could see it. If South of I4 breaks off and floats out into the Atlantic and forms another country and in that scenario I could see Miami beating FAU, FIU, etc for the national title.

it’s a long shot at best

I USED to believe that....when I felt that all Manny had to do was improve the offense.

But the shock of seeing how inept and incompetent he is....I sense that any progress towards a National Championship won't start until he's gone.

That means we'll lose 2 or 3 years of the decade. Then Blake will work is magic to get us another loser...losing another 5 years of the decade, leaving us with only 2 years to win a NC in the decade.

So after Blake is finally let go, can the new AD get us a coach capable of winning the NC in the remaining two years of the decade?

Can it happen? Well anything can happen.
Will it happen? Being realistic...Most likely NO

26 years ago Nebraska thought their dominance would go on forever.
20 years ago we thought we'd be have one for our second thumb by now..
18 years ago USC was 100% sure Pete would win them 6-7 nattys.
15 years ago Texas thought Vince Young was the tip of the winning iceberg.
13 years ago Bama was mired in mediocrity, looking for their 4th coach in 10 years
11 years ago the Turds thought Urban Meyer was a lifer and winning titles would be a yearly event. On their third coach since.
9 years ago Clemson fans were screaming wtf were they thinking when they hired Dabo Swinney.

Game is always changing. Who knows what it will look like 3, 5 or even 10 years from now.

Worried about maximizing what we have and are getting this year. If it doesn't improve we move on. Only way to look at things imo.

This thread had potential.. if it asked Will Miami win 10 games in any season in this next decade?!

The U does not have enough pieces in place to win it all. One,coaching
staff.a big clue is there any coaching staff turn over this year? Not only grade
them on coaching but recruiting.Do we have the pieces to win in the adminstration,
do we have a Sam Jankovich as AD to attract the best?Third,do we have coaching
staff able to recruit nationally or the staff capable of STA and Souh Dade HS?
As was once sung"The answer is blowing in the wind!"

Just two years ago, right after we thumped Notre Dame and were ranked 2nd in the country, this thread would elicit different responses.

It’s certainly possible. I put it at slightly higher than 5% odds. Saban will retire this decade and, in my opinion, the great equalizer would be major sanctions against Clemson, Ohio State, and/or Georgia. Could it happen this next decade? Of course.

Pitt is a bad example.
So are the 115 other teams you can mention.

A better example would have been a program that at least had the ability to recruit.
The second half of the decade Clemson was pulling top 10-15 recruiting classes (9th in '08), with an average of 18
(Miami's average the last 5 years will be around 15th).
From 05-09 Pitt's average class was 30th.

Pitt was on their 5th year of a "pro" coach and still couldn't get any traction.
Dab's was in his first full year at Clemson in '09.

So, to answer your question, Miami is more like Clemson 09 than Pitt 09.

A lot of crazy shet has happened since I was a fan.
I didn't think Miami was going to win a Natty when Schnellenberger was preaching it in '79.
Turns out I was wrong.

The state we're in now a NC isn't likely, I know.
But things change.
Worse case is that we have at least a punchers chance.

Good post.
Clemson, UGA, and OSU were no where to be found on the national stage 10 years ago.

How long ago was it where everyone was asking what is wrong with the Big 10, and how they can't compete with the big boys?

No one can answer this question definitively but a 1 in 20 shot is about right, IMO.

I’d just be happy getting an ACC championship and making the playoffs. If we do that this decade...I’d be over the moon

My personal gut is yes, Miami wins it all in 2025 with USF Florida and Notre Dame on the schedule that year. I’m just saying. Take care.
it is hard to tell. I want to say yes. I want to believe we do win a national title in the new decade. To do that though this team has to move away from the pro style offense. Miami hasn't always been a pro style offense either. We won 2 titles with Erickson running what at time was not a normal offense in nfl. The 1 back 3 wr set. I don't get fans who want to keep the same old system that has failed to work for over 15 yrs. If we get a coach willing to change with the times of college football then yes we win another title. If we get coaches just wanting to run a pro style and stick to what worked 20 yrs ago then no
