2020 DT Henry Bryant lll

I don’t have enough familiarity with these prospects yet, but there seems to be some interesting short DTs in Florida between Henry Bryant, Clyde Pinder, and Westley Neal.

If you all had to rank them, what you got?

Aaron Donals has 33 inch arms. Ran a sub 4.7 with a sub 4.4 shuttle at 6’1 285 while also repping 225 35 times. Can’t compare.
We’re not asking him to be a future hof’er.
We’re asking him to dominate the oline guys he’ll face. Over 95% of them will never be in the nfl.
Also, Aaron became a beast in college. I may be wrong but I highly doubt he had those numbers in HS.
Saquon ran a 4.68 at the opening then gained over 20 lbs and ran 4.40 at the combine.
Bryant has very little bad weight and is throwing dudes around right now. He’ll be better than McDougle who we said was also too small.

Jermaine Mcdougal? Different position.

I think (guessing here) he's referring to Lamont.

The Lamont Mcdougal hype really spins out of control on this board...WVU had VERY FEW DT with a pulse his frosh year...Someone had to get his snaps and make 23 tackles on a bad defense even by Big 12 standards...That defense was probably somewhere between 70 and 100th best defense in America...Being a part time defensive tackle and even starting a few games isn't a reason to crown him.

Lamonte McDougle was freshman all American at wvu last year. When Peter asked gaynor who was the best dline man he faced he said McDougle was the meanest sob he ever faced.
Here is his recruiting profile.

I know he is...And I'm telling you the hype is spinning out of control on with that frosh performance. WVU had very few defensive linemen, only reason he played.

I'm not saying kid can't play...I'm saying I'm not ready to crown him for 23 tackles on a **** poor defense that didn't have many other options on the DL. He wouldn't have seen the field on most defenses with a pulse.

So he didn’t deserve the frosh all American Award
Edit: disregard misread your post

You guys are referencing DT's that are 2" taller than Bryant.

Generally these attributes matter on the next level. You want guys with long arms, and that's not something 5'11" guys usually have. However, there's always exceptions and I think Bryant may be that type of player. I wouldn't mind if we offered him. He's the type of kid that has a chip on his shoulder and we need some of those.

Just look at the defensive tackles we took last class:
Jason Blissett: 6'4
Jared Hunte: 6'4
Jalar Holley: 6'3

This class:
Riggins: 6'2
Moise: 6'3
(as juniors)

Next class:
Savion Collins: 6'4
(as a sophomore)

The staff has a type obviously.
Thought the knock on Holley is he isn't 6'3🤷
