Futures odds are a rake. You could double every price and the books still have much the best of it. The guy who puts out the list has one directive and one directive alone...make your price on every team and then slice every one. If you think a team is 8/1 then make them no higher than 6/1. The public won't know the difference and you'll lap up the sucker money for the entire offseason.
Notice how quickly this type of list goes up. When you know you have a severe advantage you want the public playing into the market for as long as possible.
