2019 Spring Preview: RB

with an anemic offense, Richt inexplicably abandoned the Deejay wildcat from the 2nd quarter of the wisc bowl (up 14-3)game until late last season, it was a definite factor in losing 5 of our next 9 games, especially given the fact that 4 of those losses we scored less than 20, richt had his head up his asss

Call me crazy, but I haven't given up on Robert Burns.

I think this can be one of those kids who turn out really good after a couple quiet years in the program.
Same, he made it through a whole season without being hurt so that’s a good start for sure

We are good at RB.

OL and QB.
I agree, even if Lo is not full go this spring it’s not like we are lacking bodies to get through practices at running back considering we have Dallas, can Davis, asa Martin and Robert Burns full go in the spring

Dallas needs to stop washing everything down with french fries and he'll be all-conference.

I recall DJ getting some nice gains on screens.

I’m not saying he can’t make plays out of the backfield, which he has done, but there seems to be this weird narrative that he can be an elite receiving back, yet we’ve seen no evidence of this yet.

I think the depth chart will look like Lingard / Dallas / Davis

Don't know if the season starts that way, but I'm guessing that's how it'll shake out as the season goes on

This is a lot of words to state the obvious. Though, Dallas should not be thought of as the obvious starter. His work ethic is suspect and he underperformed last year.
Deejay's work ethic is suspect? What?!? You earn a total fail for the day, sir.

Dallas being the lead back is a problem. His "experience" does not outweigh the talent that is Lorenzo and Cam. If LO isnt starting it's a problem. Dallas has no business starting.

I love DJ's style of running.. quick feet and excellent lateral movement. However, Ninja needs to loose some "Baby Fat"... **** that, he needs to shred those 10lbs off period.

Personally I’m not entirely sold on Dallas being the lead back for us this year.

He was basically non existent beyond the first 5 games of the season outside of the duke game and didn’t look good in the rest of the games with a horrific ypc from games 6-13(8 games).

Interested in seeing how all this transpires but I hope Dallas has indeed dropped some weight and does well in the spring. I’m also eyeing cam Davis having a big spring personally. I dont Expect lingard to do much beyond light drills this spring to ease him back in
Its not DJ Man. He has the goods to be the top option. We will likely use at least 2, but mainly 2. With that said zeke Elliot would’ve looked pedestrian behing our oline.

Agree on valid points presented here; DJ carried too much weight last season to be an overall effective backhand should shed the pounds to get back to his more nimble self. Davis toted the Rock exceptionally well when he got carries, I would like to see him more involved this Spring. Lo is the X factor if you will - if he’s 💯 after his injury then I believe he will take the reigns as lead back. I think with DJ’s versatility he will be utilized more in 2 RB sets, out of the backfield, i. Wildcat formations, and/or in the slot. I think that is where he will become the most effective.

I see DJ as a weapon v. pure RB, ala Ronnie Harmon from the SD/LA Chargers back in the day. I don’t want that type of wear & tear on an all purpose guy.

Think Cam & Lingard should be the featured RBs as they are truly RBs, but man, regardless we r thin!!!

Only 10 catches for DJ is criminal
I was going to post the same. If there was ever a sentence that provided a window into the lack of offensive thought, this one might be it:
Dallas starting his career at wide-out, and he showed off his versatility last season, running for 617 yards on 109 carries, catching 10 passes.

We actually are
Dallas was a 4 star
Lingard was a 5 star
Martin was a 4 star
Davis was a 4 star

Fair but Martin is to eligible this year. So that leaves 3 with one coming off major knee injury so really two as of right now.

Very sorry to hear about Lingard. At full health he would be an amazing starter.

Lo is going to need time to fully recover and based on everything I’ve read and seen, they’re planning to give it to him. Even if it takes him one or two games or more into the season to be fully 100%, it’ll be worth it in the long run.
