2019 Roster Discussion

Lol I said he has been underwhelming after coming in as an All American. The stats I just posted are completely underwhelming. You are insane

The guy has missed almost 3/4 of the games!

He only had 14 ABs last year (and was given a redshirt) and then this year he missed about half the season with another injury.

You're a loon.

PG no longer has Tristan McDonough listed as one of our commits. The Herald article from today (not written by SMD) said we had a 14 player recruiting class, so this fits. Looks like we’ll have 20 returners, 2 JUCOs, and 12 freshmen.
PG now has McDonough listed as committed to Houston, so he can be comfortably scratched off the list.

The Fall roster is out with 35 players total. There are two JUCOs that haven’t previously been mentioned: RHP Mark Mixon from South Georgia State and OF Chad Crosbie from Saddleback Junior College (spent his freshman season at UC San Diego).

D1 Baseball did a podcast on the incoming recruiting classes. Our class is discussed at the 31 minute mark.

The main points:
-Fitt said it’s our best class since the Collins group
-Cecconi, Gates, and Del Castillo are the headliners
-Cecconi has been impressing in the pre fall practice workouts
-Mixon has a Hammond/Bellamy type delivery. Fitt seemed fairly impressed with him.
-We added a lot of pitching depth overall

Let's hope Gino and the assistants can coach them up (really feel for JD and the emotions that he and his family will go through).

I can only imagine the pain that JD and his family have endured but his profession allows him to be surrounded by kids he cares for like they were his own. Being out there coaching and around the players will help him I'm sure.

The roster is down to 33. Cal Conley and Kam Lane are no longer listed. Without
Lane there are no seniors on the roster.

Does anyone know which of the freshman pitchers had a good Fall and might get some playing time this season?

Did Bailey throw?
Yes, Mantilla did pitch but didn’t have a great Fall. I’m not sure Mantilla will play much, although we don’t have a lot of LHPs so he may get another look.
The other two freshman pitchers, Cecconi and Gates, will both get playing time after having decent Falls.

Keeping with the good news theme in Canes athletics, the roster is now down to 32 with Montes no longer listed.

DiMare will not struggle to recruit.
