From Wilfong today:

Dawand Jones is a 6’8 360 OT from Indianapolis. He’s been a basketball player his entire life and has offers for b-ball from some G5 schools. He started focusing more on football this year and has P5 offers from Miss State, Indiana, USC, FSU, TCU, Cincinnati and Michigan. All offers were received in the last 4 weeks. There’s a chance OSU and Oregon offer next.

Has UV to MSU, UI, Michigan and will be at OSU this week.

He’s OV to USC and is scheduled to FSU but because he took 2 b-ball OV, he will only have 1 left. He really wants to receive an offer from Oregon and Miami.

He’s very raw, but enormous and athletic.

Can we afford to take anymore o-line projects? I’m sure he has some upside but we need people who contribute early.

Very few guys can come in and contribute early on the OL. The one guy we were targeting that could, is going to Baga (Neal). It’s also very likely that one if not both of our two current commits flip to other schools. Add to that the whopping two guys that Searels has targeted to fill this void are committed elsewhere and seem unlikely to flip to us.

This leaves us in the precarious situation where we can end up with Zero commits heading into the early signing period. This year our whole class may consist of projects like this.

Need to get him on campus. Read earlier that this kid and his mother want a warm weather school. Considering our lack of options I really don’t understand why we haven’t offered...

Searels our there acting like he has the old Cowboys OL on roster and five 5 stars committed in blood for next year. Dude is a steaming pile of ****, they can’t fire his *** soon enough.

Searles is pulling a classic "Kuligowski " he ain't recruiting, because he knows that he's gone after the season.

This is going to be 2 years in a row that a position has suffered in recruiting (last year DL). That’s all on Richt to either notice the lack of results or to plan for change.

We can’t keep not signing guys in the trenches and expect it to get better.

There is a reason coach Searels has rented a very coral gable house near campus instead of buying. He hasn't coached at any school longer than 3 years other than his 1st OL coaching gig at App St in Boonieville, NC.

Searels often talkes about when recruiting OOS linemen he tells them Miami culturally is a little different an not for everyone (if your a country boi, it could be rough). Apparently that holds true for the coach himself.

Go Canes
