2019 DB Kaiir Elam loves what Miami is building

People that think this is Rumph deciding who to prioritize unilaterally are ******* idiots.

Seriously if that were the case, Asante Samuel would be enrolled right now.

Swear man everyone want to put all the blame on Rumph for literally everything. Banda, Diaz, and the RC don't get **** when it comes to DB recruiting. SMDH, some of yall are ******* ridiculous.

you don't think rumph would be fired if he isn't making regular contact with recruits they are heavily recruiting? you don't think Diaz and richt would know and hear that these kids aren't hearing from rumph and fire his ***? c'mon.

Bethel was gonna be in this class get out of here. Yea after the we missed on samuel jobe tc n ps2. Stop defending his recruiting cause we are about to miss out on Elam and I also forgot to mention Dent decomitted too. Horrible average.

He had a commitable offer for months , Pete even said that. Not

Dude Pete reported multiple times bethels recruitment had nothing to do with the other guys. That was months before nsd.

Not sure where you were or maybe you're just a troll.

Goodone, "insider". Let me clarify Rumph can't recruit football players but he sure as **** can recruit groupies on canesinsight that are all up on his D. Smh you guys are blind, common sense isnt so common.
Shut your dumb *** up. I never said or acted like i was a insider. You act like your lame *** would land recruits.

Okay seriously what grade are you in? Do you know Rumph personally?

Not sure but reading the tea leaves I assume Rumph didn't have all the freedom to go get the boys he wanted. Not sure how much has changed but it definitely seems like he's recruiting more this cycle.

These quotes from Chris Steele says a lot about what Rumph can do as a recruiter:
“My dad and coach Rumph talk nearly every single day. He’s left a great impression not just on myself, but on my family, as well,” Steele told DieHards on Wednesday. “I’ll be out there very, very soon.”

and

“Who wouldn’t want to play for a coach like Coach Rumph? He played in the league, played at Miami,” Steele said. “He has the exact same mindset as me, he has that mindset to where — how can I word this? I was on the phone with him yesterday. I can’t say his exact words, but his words to me were basically, ‘We treat receivers like little girls.'”

I'm pulling for Rumph a coach/recruiter this year. Hope he produces 2 1st rounders and gets Dent, Steele and Davis

it doesn't matter though, cause anything that goes right with DB recruiting, all credit will go to Banda and Diaz. Rumph is gunna get nothing but hate, regardless what happens. Cause don't you know he singlehandedly lost PS2 and TC, and if it wasn't for him, both would be canes

Do you think we have good CB depth right now?
If no, then it literally makes NO SENSE to only take 2 CBs. Its that simple, we are losing 2 CBs - Jackson and Dean. That means just to get back to this depth we need 2 CBs. However, imo we have poor depth this yr. That means 3 is the absolute minimum for the 2019 CB class.

Now whether we get 3 or 4 Cbs is kinda depended on what position you think the guys play. I think taking 4 CBs makes the most sense though (especially if one of them could become a safety eventually). If we take 4 Cbs, then in 2020, we will have:
jr - Bandy
so - Ivey, Frierson, Blades, Bethel
fr - Stevenson, Elam, Steele, Sanguinetti or whatever

That means we'd have 9 Cbs on the roster. Ideally imo we have 10cb's and 6 s's. So Then if Bandy leaves early we will need 2 Cbs in the 2020 class to have ideal depth....and that's exactly what we should be hoping for. Plus this is if none of the dude switch to S at some point. So it just makes sense to take 4 in 2019
No I actually think we have atrocious depth which is why we need to take somewhere in the neighborhood of 6 DB's in the 2019 class.

Going into 2019 we will have 5 CB's returning like I noted above. Now Frierson or Blades may move to Safety but assuming they don't move then we have 5 plus the 2019 kids for next year. If we take 3 CB's we would go into the 2019 season with 8 CB's with Bandy having the most seniority as a true junior. Then in 2020 we can take another 3 which would give us 11 CB's assuming Bandy stays for his senior year. We can get away with taking 2 CB's in Surge19 if Frierson and Blades stay at CB assuming of course that we take 3-4 in 2020 but it would obviously not be the ideal situation.

Now if Frierson is moved to Safety it would most certainly not be until after the 2018 season because we simply do not have the depth at CB now to afford that luxury. If and when Frierson or Blades are moved to Safety, we would have 7 CB's going into the 2019 season assuming we take 3 in this class which is still not good depth but doable. Then we take 3-4 in 2020 which would push our CB numbers up to 10-11 assuming Bandy stays for his senior year.

That's basically it in a nutshell. No we do not have good depth in the secondary right now but my point was that we do not necessarily have to take 4 in 2019 although I would love to take 4 studs in this class. I think it is more likely that the staff attempts to address the depth at CB over a 2 year period as opposed to trying to sign as many as possible this class. Of course if there are 4 top CB's in this class that the coaching staff wants and they all want in then yes we definitely take 4. I just think it more likely we see a 3/3 split at CB between the next 2 classes.

At the end of the day we agree. We need 6 DBs in this class for sure. We're just going to be debating which position those 6 guys play.

Now Imo I dont think Jaden Davis or Akeem Dent will pick us. Like literally the ONLY way it makes sense to me to not go for Elam hard as **** is if we know for a fact we are getting at least one of those two AND Chris Steele, which obviously is no guarantee being that hes a Cali guy. And we better ******* get Tyrique Stevenson.

So for me I think the 6 DBs we get are Tyrique Stevenson, Chris Steele, Josh Sanguinetti, Mark Richards, Jordan Battle, and hopefully Kaiir Elam.

And who even knows what position Richards even wants to play, I'd bet he wants to be a WR. And if thats the case, we gotta add another DB. But thats my point in asking why the **** Elam isn't one of our top targets. Like seriously, its just *** planning. Davis, Dent, Steele are all going to be tough pulls to just very unlikely; plus Richards is most likely gunna play offense. That would leave us with Stevenson, Sanguinetti (who is also going to be tough to beat Stanford for), Battle, and ......? who? Rendardo Greene and Tecorey Crouch? Man, Elam is better than both of them, and definitely has more potential than both.

If you want him to be a plan B, sure thats fine, but did this staff learn ******* nothing from last years DB recruiting? Top CB targets that are looking to leave Miami FROM THE VERY BEGINNING, like Davis and Dent, aren't likely to come here. Idk man it just seems so obvious that Elam should be one of our priorities.

I agree for sure. To be quite honest I don't think Davis or Dent are coming here as of right now. Yeah a lot can change between now and signing day but I'm not holding my breath.

CB is a major priority and the 4 guys I want are the same ones you listed.
Stevenson
Sanguinetti
Steele
Elam

I also couldn't agree more about Elam and that we should be all over this kid. Steele will be a tough pull because he's a Cali kid and local 5 star kids like Stevenson and Sanguinetti are always down to the wire drama it seems so we need to recruit these kids hard but at the same time we are in absolutely no position to slow play a kid like Elam especially considering the fact we could take up to 4 CB's.

I think the law of averages with benefit us with the local stud CB's this cycle but that is pure speculation on my part. Now I'm sure there will be many other excellent CB's that will blossom during their senior year so I'm sure we will end up with a very good group but make no mistake. We must sign at least 3 quality CB's and by quality I mean players the caliber of Stevenson and Sanguinetti.

If that helps u sleep at night to believe this.

So Campbell grew up a UGA fan? Is that what ur saying?
I very possible, why not?? So you really believe EVERY kid that is born and raise in Miami loves The U?? How many times have we seen a kid from SoFla say another school offering was their "dream school", it's very much possible that as a kid, he grew up liking another school other than Miami..

(I was at a Mardi Gras ball, and a kid in the had his favorite school as The U and said he wanted a scholarship to play football there, and this kid was like it the 4th or 5th grade, and he was born and raise in Lafayette, Louisiana probably never ever been to FL, BUT HE SAY HIS FAVORITE FOOTBALL TEAM IS THE U)

Bro, Ur going way off subject and ur totally missing my point.

"Tyrique Stevenson, Chris Steele, Josh Sanguinetti, Mark Richards, Jordan Battle, and hopefully Kaiir Elam."

Good list, to which I'd add K Logan, K Smith and R Green. I agree on Davis and Dent (and IMHO Elam's not coming either). ... Question: Do we have any shot with Gant?

You can back into 5 if you count Richards there (as you do), but I don't see us allocating 6 spots for DB.

Minimum needs:
13 Defense: 5 DL, 4 LBs, 4 DBs
12 Offense: 1 QB, 2 RB, 5 OL, 3 WR , 1TE
2 ATH (Richards and McIntosh)

That gets you to 27, which I'm pretty sure is our max class size. Apply Richards to DB and you get 5 DBs.

at least he got drafted in the first round
