2019 DB Kaiir Elam loves what Miami is building

This “occasional” contact by Rumph is lazy and unacceptable. I know for a fact Hartley is contacting his targets multiple times A DAY!! Whether it be a text, tweet, IM or phone call. I assume Dr. Donk is doing the same thing. That’s why they’re 2 of the best recruiters in the nation. Right or wrong, that’s what these kids expect.
Here we go. As of now diaz doesnt want elam so rumph is not going hard after him. A guy like jaden davis has said he talks to rumph and the staff all the time.

Most recruits will not say anything negative about a during their recruiting process. So them talking up Rumph before they sign on with a class is nothing out of the ordinary. What counts is the finished product. How did we end up with Bethel in this class? I'll tell you how we missed out on multiple 5* and 4* recruits. What happened last year with PS2 n TC is unheard of. If your a supporter of Rumph or his boy thats fine he is decent/average coach, but acknowledge that his recruiting is horrible. Also stop bringing up Banda, Rumph is the Cornerback coach geeezzz.
You don't even know what the **** you talking bout.

So make do! It don’t take nothing to drop a line to a kid. Can’t keep using the “small” school angle. We ain’t Bucknell or Buffalo. Rumph needs to get off his behind and recruit.
You know that rumph recruits who he is told to right? Yall dudes stay coming up with shît to jump on this guy. Ivins been reported that the staff cooled on elam.

As a sophomore last year in track Elam's best 100m was 11.06 down from his freshman year of 11,.80. His 220 dropped from 24.96 to 23.09 in that same period. This year he is running again and those times will improve more.

He was at the Miami Nike (Regional ) this February 18, 2018 and posted the following--

Elam, Kaiir..19-DB...The Benjamin School - 6-0.5 (H)....182(W)....4.51(40)....4.54 (short shuttle)....44(power ball)....31.4 vertical)....103.68(Score)

The 40 was tied for the second fastest
His total SPARQ Score was the 8th highest.

This is absolutely correct. If Elam isn't receiving heavy contact that's a staff decision, not a Rumph decision to not contact heavily. You can disagree w/it, but at least know who you should be blaming.

Miami needs to sign 5-6 DBs with this Surge19' group.. This Elam kid should definitely be on the list of targets, BUT some of these kid's want too much attention!! Why do the staff need to call or text you every day?? Some of these kids want too much.. NOW I do agree, the staff need to reach out to him more and show him that he's definitely wanted, BUT I'm not sure about texting or calling him everyday... Maybe once or twice a week hit him up and go visit him every so often, I mean keep the communication open BUT **** the staff shouldn't have to stalk him!!

To put this in context; when TC was on his OV w us, Coley was still reaching out to him. I’m sorry, but recruiting is about hustling and selling and it don’t stop until the ink hits the paper.

Occasional contact ain’t going to get it. I’m sorry, but I’m getting a little sick and tired of hearing this. How does Patke hit the ground running, yet Rumph hasn’t learned **** yet. The whole Tyson Campbell fiasco should’ve learned him something!

DUDE Campbell wasn't all Cane, the kid didn't want to come to Miami.. Reading most of the write-ups on him, Rumph was the main reason why Miami was being considered by Campbell (and PS2 too)!! Rumph was working these recruit's, just at the end of the day THE RECRUIT'S wasn't really feeling Miami and didn't want to go to Miami... Campbell made it very clear that Miami wasn't his top school, the kid missed every big event Miami gave for recruit's.. I BEEN SAYING THIS FOR YEARS, coaches don't sign LOI, this is the recruit's decision!! SO ALL OF US NEED TO MOVE ON FROM THE BS FROM LAST YEAR, Campbell and PS2 DIDN'T WANT TO BE NO HURRICANES... We had the whole staff plus we had Nesta recruiting for us, THEY DIDN'T WANT TO BE HURRICANES plain and simple, Rumph did his job-- we can't fault him IF recruit's don't want to be Hurricanes..

EVERY SOFLA RECRUIT AREN'T DIEHARD MIAMI FANS, SOME OF THESE KID'S GROW UP LOVING OTHER SCHOOLS..

i don’t know much about recruiting and have only Ben following it for 3 years. But I guess it’s a generation gap thing for me. I don’t want a kid that wants to be coddled and have his ego stroked on a daily basis. I want decision makers and alphas. If some kid wants to come here but changes his mind because some older dude is blowing up his phone then I question that. The staff has developed a lot relationships with schools and coaches down here and have been told that this kid doesn’t like us. I don’t say stop recruiting him. But plenty of kids want to jump on board. If our secondary balls out this year and he still wants to be a dive then good luck dude and wish you the best. Our best players have decided to come here when no one else did. Why did they succeed? The mentality is one thing you can’t teach.

If that helps u sleep at night to believe this.

So Campbell grew up a UGA fan? Is that what ur saying?

Bethel was going to be in the class way back in December regardless and Banda and Diaz pushed for bethel so much not rumph. The more you know....

What’s the going rate for a 6’3 cb from sofla with laser timed 4.3 speed, That has won multiple state champion, and has been on national tv multiple times throughout his high school career, and basically doesn’t get thrown at?

You making a fool of yourself, again with this rumph bullsh*t like the rest of the defensive staff don’t need to improve in recruiting

this is a corner back recruit..from the area Mike Rumph is from. I think we sign a good db class thi syear...but i see no reason why there isnt more contact with legit one of the best recruits down here...

I understand That but maybe the staff isn’t all that in to him if banda and rumph hasn’t been contacting him like that

We only missed on two cornerbacks that never had interest to begin with. Blades, Ivey, and Frierson are elite corners that committed. Bethel isn't a scrub he earned his offer and would've been a take no matter who we got but don't let reality keep u from believing what u want.
Smh you and Brock make ridiculous comments on here regarding Rumph. How hard is it to recruit someone with Blades bloodlines to come to the U. Frierson is also a legacy and Ivey underated. I hope you don't really believe that Bethel was gonna be in this class regardless. Only missed on 2? Ok TC PS2 Asante Jobe CB/S not mention Wilson and Troutman. And even if it "just 2" its two f@$!#g 5* in your backyard which you coached and mentored. If you like Rumph thats fine but defend his recruiting cause hes about lose Elam too watch.

Bethel was gonna be in this class get out of here. Yea after the we missed on samuel jobe tc n ps2. Stop defending his recruiting cause we are about to miss out on Elam and I also forgot to mention Dent decomitted too. Horrible average.

That's probably accurate... but there's also the possibility Banda/Rumph's level of contact is not matching the staff's level of enthusiasm for the player. We have no way of knowing for certain, but comments like Elam's are at least somewhat concerning.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think Diaz (or Richt) is such a recruiting micro-manager that he tells Banda/Rumph "make certain you contact player x, at least y times per month/week/day." I think there is a shifting level of prioritization of multiple players at various positions that changes throughout the evaluation process. Individual coaches are then left to recruit those players based on the priority established by the coaches (and probably at the direction of a handful of the coaching staff).

So, for example, if Diaz told Banda/Rumph that Elam is the no. 3 DB priority for this class, and they are only making "occasional" contact with him, then I have a problem with that (because the recruiting effort does not match the priority). But if Diaz told Banda/Rumph, yeah, we'd have a spot open for him if he wanted in the class, but there are 10-12 DBs we're prioritizing over him, then "occasional" contact makes more sense. Or maybe the Diaz made an early determination that the likelihood of landing Elam was low so they would prioritize him below his talent level (because time is a limited resource).

Personally, I think Elam is the type of local athlete that should be a higher priority at the position (unless the coaches have a strong indication that he's not interested), but the coaches' evaluations are the only ones that matter. Ultimately, my concern with many of the defensive coaches is I am not certain their recruiting effort always matches the priority of the recruit. Hopefully I'm wrong about that.

Funny davis said he hears from rumph and dvd on a daily basis. But rumph is just sitting around being lazy. He goes after who richt and diaz want.

Miami is a local school that is showing Davis very strong interest with cornerbacks coach Mike Rumph leading the charge for UM’s recruiting efforts.

“They are very high on my list,” Davis said of Miami. “It is the hometown team. I keep going down there and I am going to continue to get down there. I have been talking to coach Rumph and also coach Van Dyke almost on a daily basis.
