2018 Expectations vs. Reality

We'll be 4-5 deep at RB assuming that's Dallas' signature position.

You have a WR corp featuring Langham, Cager, Richards, Thomas, Harley, & Irvin coming back.

Only thing that's a question mark on O is the O-Line, we have to replace 2 starters there.

We'll be alright, everything doesn't have to be perfect to win 10-11 games.

You aren't counting the QB spot as a question mark? Another year of Rosier is not the answer. Now hopefully Perry (or Weldon or Williams) comes in and plays at least alright, but I don't know how anyone can say it's not at least a question mark.

I think we will still be good next year. Offense should be much improved and I think we will be able to lean on the offense early. Our back 7 should be really good next year, I think they can help the line. As long as we can stay healthy I actually like the two deep at DL but gotta keep them boys healthy.

LOL...Rosier's not the answer, but a druggie like Weldon who didn't even participate in bowl practices is?

Another 10 win season? We was an Arky State cancellation away from 11 winz. We was a cot dam 11 win team in my mind.

I still think we have a solid year next year, but with the way DT is shaping up, that gap is just too big for it to be A YEAR. I also fear that with the way DT is shaping up, 2019 will still have too big a gap between us and the Bama, UGA and Clemsons unless we really close strong this cycle. Hope that I am wrong :noidea:

The DT's leaving weren't All-Americans (or All-ACC even). They can be replaced and the top 3 (Willis, Ford, Bethel) were all good prospects coming in. The concern is depth but signing day is still some time away.

Any way we can switch to a 3-4 defense that we won't have to lean on as my Dlinemen and Quarterman Pickney and McCloud plus 1 more LB and we're set. Maybe it isn't possible maybe because Diaz has never run it but it would probably work maybe?

I hadn't hear that about Weldon, but it further illustrates that the Qb spot in general is a giant question mark.

Other than DT we're equal to or better than the 2017 team at literally every spot. Offense will be young, but incredibly talented. Obviously, things come down to QB play. If Perry end up being as good as some think or if Jarren steps up and has a Frohm-like season, this could be a 11 win team.

Goals should be the same as last year: Win 10 games, win the Coastal, beat FSU, and win major OOC game vs LSU.

Playoffs or bust (did I do that right?)

Your probably being sarcastic but you ain't wrong in thinking that (if you aren't). People want to pretend all they want that winning 10 games is okay (which it is), but if Georgia continues to rise as a program and we can't win big games or even the ACC championship knowing Miami fans (not just Canes fans/media) they will get restless, FAST. Miami sports it championship or bust even if we haven't been relevant in a decade plus.

No less than 10 wins in the regular season. We would have had 11 this year if not for the cancelation

9 to 10 wins max. No D line. Good teams will run on us all day long.

Who said we won't have a D-Line? RJ and Norton leaving hurts but it's not the end of the world. We have guys behind them who can play and Nesta is another guy who can contribute day one. If we won 10 games this year with inconsistent QB play we should be in much better shape next year if we get some consistency at that position with all the weapons we have. I think our defense is better than Oklahoma's and they made the playoffs because of a high powered offense and a decent defense

you have more faith in willis than I do, bethel?.. f*ck knows about him, we can hope

after those 2, it's GREEN as it can get

offensive lines are going to have a field day and diaz AND us better hope he adjusts big time

If Storm 2018 is as good as we think it is...

...I think we should be better next year. I love Hightower and Pope's film. I think they both can come in and contribute similar to what Thomas did and maybe even Richards his first season.

I love, love, love both Cam and Lingard. They will be our Michel and Chub for years to come. They will give Homer some plays off and only make him stronger.

The TE's look like studs and match up problems. I expect one to fight for the starting spot with "Irvins" and the other to get plenty of playing time as well.

Defensively we should be fine if D Jax comes back healthy I think he will play more DT reps since he looked so good in obvious passing downs this past season. We bring in someone like Wilis back from his hiatus and he should be playing for his career. Usually last chance players like that play their ****s off. And we still don't know which youngsters will come in and/or JUCO guys will come in and help. Maybe even a 5th year senior transfer from another school like the corners we have gotten the last few years.

LBS should get better with one more year of experience and the conditioning. Steed seems to be someone to watch out for if he gets healthy.

I expect the Secondary to be one of the best in the ACC.

Special teams will be better in some ways with more depth and speed coming in with the recruiting class. Punter can't get any worse. As a Sophomore he should be way better. His dad will make sure of it.
Kicker is a question mark.

I expect 11 wins and players hungry to prove something in Charlotte. Redemption.

We will have a better chance to beat Clemson for the Acc title next year. We were without 3 impact starters on offense this season, I know some of yall like to mope and bxtch but that actually makes a difference in reality.

The 2018 squad will have more overall depth and talent in most positions.
1. QB is stable and with upside now that Rosier has so many games under his belt. Perry was able to redshirt, learn the system and gain much needed muscle weight. Added sweetener is Williams. Huge upgrade
2. RB is deep and strong. Homer is above average, Deejay is electrifying, Lingard will contribute immediately, Davis and Burns will battle for the 4th slot. All can play ST's as well providing much needed depth and speed.
3. WR will return a healthy Richards, experience with Thomas, Harley, Harris will break out his senior year. The money season for him. Throw in Pope and Hightower and this is the most talent we've had at WR in some time.
4. TE is unproven but the upside Jordan and Mallory bring is exciting. Jordan will especially b the moment he steps on the field.
5. OL has five guys returning that started games this past season in Donaldson, Gauthier, GayMahoney and St Louis. Throw in Herbert, Reed, and Scaifie for added depth and we will be just fine. Who knows, other guys like Hillery, Dykstra and Brown.
6. DL could be the issue. Frontline guys will be fine but the depth is concerning.
7. LB we all know. It's the depth that I think we are better with Steed, Wilder and Jennings.
8. The secondary will have plenty of experience and playmakers. JJ, Carter, Jackson, Young, Redwine, Bandy, then throw in Storm 18 and this group should have us all excited.
9. ST's will have much more depth with kickoff and punt coverage teams. As the season progressed the unit was very thin and it showed. Feagles was not good but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and chalk it up to Frosh jitters. Have to admit a Frosh kicker is scary but that is college football, playing/starting freshmen at certain positions.

2018 should be another division championship and another shot at Clemson in the ACCCG..

I like the recruiting being done here. We are going to cut some dead weight moving forward. I think in 2019 we will have a solid 3 deep at each position.

We were good qb play away from winning 12 games this year. Offense is gonna be better almost everywhere. We are set everywhere on D except DT so if we can get a plug and play juco or grad transfer or can avoid injury, I expect nothing short of 10 wins again.

Sorry, but no "solid" QB was going to make up the 35 point difference between Clemson and UM.

Sure, we might have won some weak opponent nail biters by more, but that's about it.

Even Pitt was a collaborative **** effort.

It would've been a much closer game with better qb play... next year we will be on the same level as Clemson.
