I admittedly haven't posted or followed our recruiting efforts that closely over the last few years, but I am curious what the story is with Shaun Shivers. He committed to Auburn a few months back, and we don't appear to have much interest in him. I understand that his size is concerning, but he brings ELITE speed to the table as one of the fastest kids in the state, and his production in the playoffs was incredible...so what's the story here?

Among the long list of 2018 RB's, he's somewhere in the middle of the pack in my honest opinion...

Very fast no doubt, but ne falls in the category of the super midget Mighty Mouse RB's...

That's not to say he won't be a good player because he clearly will be & (I already know somebody is slamming the keys about to throw Sproles at me lol), but I think they're are better players that can do what he does & fit the bill a lil better.

I would definitely take if we missed out on other targets higher on the board.

Miami is definitely interested in him he just committed early and seems to be infatuated w the $EC. It's early tho, we need to try and be his third commitment, not his next one. You know how it goes down here

Very fast no doubt, but I'm not really a big fan of the super midget Mighty Mouse RB's...

yeah Worm to small, multiple of backs in 2018 I'd prefer over him. Besides that track kids seems like he'll fill the need of the super speedy small guy that you put on returns and special offensive packages.

Richt has taken guys like him before. afterall how much bigger is McFarland than this guy? not much.

I suspect we will offer and pursue him. you can't teach 10.4 100m speed.

I never said he wasn't a take, I simply said there's guys ahead of him that I would take first...

Take a look at the 2018 RB's, there's at least 4-5 players I would take before Shivers & that's not to say he's not a good player because he is, but I wouldn't consider him a top priority as of now.

He's not big, but he's also much stronger than he looks. There's no way in **** he would ever be a 3 down back here BUT he would certainly aid our return game and we could design a package to utilize his skillset on offense. I'd bet good money that Gus features him well and he ends up having a productive college career if he does go to Auburn. Scatbacks can excel at the college level when placed in the right situation.

At Nike Combine measured out at 5-5/163. That said he has tremendous speed even at longer distances like 200m.
100m--10.47 (national elite 10.80)
200m--21.13 (national elite 22.00)

Here is something that adds to the argument of these Nike times often no depicting a players true speed. As 1953 has also posted this.
His best 55m is 6.62 (national elite ( 6.62 ) set almost 2 years ago when he was a sophomore and was not nearly as fast as he is presently at 100m and 200m.His best 100m then was 10.69. So one can safely assume his 55m now is considerably faster.

Nike Combine 3/6/16--
Shivers, Shaun.. 18 ..RB.. Chaminade-Madonna FL.. 5-5(H).. 163(W).. 4.62(40)-elect).. (no SS).. 30(PB).. 32.2(vert)..

some people would be all over him not having speed with that Nike time. look at that 55m as a sophomore. Saw posts on here where 30%-40% of the people will not run at these combines for fear of a bad time.

i was getting ready to post about Shivers and then found this thread. Just wondering if Richt could find a role for a guy like this? This kid does not run or play like a 5'5 160lb back if you have every seen his film. Would be a utility MONSTER imo

That kind of speed, I'd take him on that alone. No question, his size is a concern though.

I would be willing to bet though that track is also a huge consideration for him, probably ahead of football. If it isn't, I don't know what he's thinking. There are certainly better schools though to do both, so he'll be an interesting recruit to watch.
